30SoS Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Howdy, all. Not sure if I did something wrong here, but my traffic has pretty much dropped in half since moving to TCH a couple weeks ago (not that our site ever got that many hits, but still...). I'm using the same domain names, same exact site, etc. but still only about half the visitors. Is it possible that I missed/screwed up something during the change over? I can't image that it's host related, but I still can't explain it. Any thoughts? J Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Shouldnt have done anything by moving. People only know your domain name, your domain name only knows where it is supposed to point. You may have lost a few during propagation from the old DNS to the new but not enough to make a difference. Where do you get traffic? Word of mouth, search engines? Lower positioning in a search could cause a loss of visitors. I know if I move and keep my same phone number I still have the same number of creditors calling. Changing hosts shouldnt affect anything. Quote
Head Guru Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I know if I move and keep my same phone number I still have the same number of creditors calling. Changing hosts shouldnt affect anything. How true is that statement! Quote
TCH-JimE Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Do you still have records from your old host about where your traffic came from, you should be able to compare that to ours and see whats missing! Jim Quote
Frylock Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Maybe it's the numbers you are comparing? Like now you're looking at 'unique visitors' versus 'page views'? Though if like you say you don't get that many anyways, it could just be natural fluxuations. I know anytime Tupac is in the news or we are near a date he is supposed to come back from the dead our site visitors doubles. Quote
surefire Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 My experience was the opposite. Hardly any hits for six months at another host... moved to TCH... avalanche. Not necessarily cause and effect... just my experience. Quote
