cmuskett Posted July 13, 2003 Author Posted July 13, 2003 That's what I said.. My daughter sent me the link.
idallen Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Not being American, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to remember until I read the background: http://64.177.83.63/liberty/background.htm (The background says that the pictures and music for the piece were taken from other people, without credit. That hardly seems fair.) The author says Americans are obligated to go to war "every place on earth that ever poses a threat to the American way of life". You might understand how nervous this makes us non-Americans feel. :-(

idallen Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Is every nation on earth that thinks it sees a threat to its way of life obligated to wage war to end that threat?
cmuskett Posted July 14, 2003 Author Posted July 14, 2003 I didn't post this to start a huge discussion. This was a link my daughter received in an email and she sent it to me.. I just thought I would share it to remember those lost on 9-11. This just shows that no one is safe from terrorism. I'm sorry if it has offended anyone.
curtis Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Charlotte, It didn't offend me in the least. In fact, I sent the link to most all my friends and family members just to refresh their memories on what can and did take place on 911. Thanks for the link. curtis
greatfolios sysop Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 I am with curts on this, and I think that this is the wrong place to get into a potentially heated debate over such issues, it is after all the family forum. if it was the www.standing-on-the-back-deck-drinking-a-beer-while-roasting-a-hotdog.com/forum.php on the other hand.... idallen Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Into this family forum comes a movie with plagiarized pictures and music showing people getting blown up and falling off buildings, and people say "wow" and send it to all their friends. It scares me. I ask: Should every country do that? (send people to travel the world and kill the people who threaten its way of life) and people say "inappropriate topic for a family forum". Yuck! Okay, sorry. I didn't know. It's not easy for people living outside US culture to comprehend what US family values mean these days. It's a sensitive issue, and words seem harsh when there are no faces to see behind them. I'll wait for that www.standing-on-the-back-deck-drinking-a-beer-while- roasting-a-hotdog.com/forum.php. Make it a tofu dog. Obviously I'm not going to figure this one out at a keyboard.
Head Guru Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 God Bless The USA If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life, And I had to start again with just my children and my wife, I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today, 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away. I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A. From the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee, Across the plains of Texas from sea to shining sea. From Detroit down to Houston and New York to L.A., There's pride in every American heart and it's time we stand and say: I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.
