dvilloldo Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Hi. The first, I want to say I'm TCH customer since 20/5/2003 (proel334.net domain), and now I have 2 more accounts (grumpywolf.net and other one, commercial). And I'm really happy because I chose the more better option in hosting companies, for sure Well... about my question... I living in Spain, and most os my website visitor are from here. If i testing the access times to my websites, I can see a really BIG difference between my 2 main accounts (proel334.net and grumpywolf.net), and I know is because the servers (server26 and server35) are in different data centers. That difference is really big when browsing the sites, updating the information, making backups, and so on... For example, look the ping times from here: ---------------------------- >ping server35.totalchoicehosting.com Haciendo ping a server35.totalchoicehosting.com [69.50.193.13] con 32 bytes de datos: Respuesta desde 69.50.193.13: bytes=32 tiempo=246ms TTL=41 Respuesta desde 69.50.193.13: bytes=32 tiempo=244ms TTL=41 Respuesta desde 69.50.193.13: bytes=32 tiempo=278ms TTL=41 Respuesta desde 69.50.193.13: bytes=32 tiempo=236ms TTL=41 Estadísticas de ping para 69.50.193.13: Paquetes: enviados = 4, recibidos = 4, perdidos = 0 (0% perdidos), Tiempos aproximados de ida y vuelta en milisegundos: Mínimo = 236ms, Máximo = 278ms, Media = 251ms >ping server26.totalchoicehosting.com Haciendo ping a server26.totalchoicehosting.com [209.152.177.32] con 32 bytes de datos: Respuesta desde 209.152.177.32: bytes=32 tiempo=146ms TTL=47 Respuesta desde 209.152.177.32: bytes=32 tiempo=135ms TTL=47 Respuesta desde 209.152.177.32: bytes=32 tiempo=146ms TTL=47 Respuesta desde 209.152.177.32: bytes=32 tiempo=149ms TTL=47 Estadísticas de ping para 209.152.177.32: Paquetes: enviados = 4, recibidos = 4, perdidos = 0 (0% perdidos), Tiempos aproximados de ida y vuelta en milisegundos: Mínimo = 135ms, Máximo = 149ms, Media = 144ms ---------------------------- This results are "normal times": about 150 ms for server26, and 250 for server35... 66% more!!! So... my question is... can I ask TCH to change my account now located in server35 to other server located in the same data center as server26? And by the way... I waiting for news about European datacenters... I saw in other post about it, and i tried to ping to the first server in there... the result is amazing: ---------------------------- >ping uk1.totalchoicehosting.com Haciendo ping a uk1.totalchoicehosting.com [83.142.28.178] con 32 bytes de datos: Respuesta desde 83.142.28.178: bytes=32 tiempo=54ms TTL=50 Respuesta desde 83.142.28.178: bytes=32 tiempo=53ms TTL=50 Respuesta desde 83.142.28.178: bytes=32 tiempo=94ms TTL=50 Respuesta desde 83.142.28.178: bytes=32 tiempo=39ms TTL=50 Estadísticas de ping para 83.142.28.178: Paquetes: enviados = 4, recibidos = 4, perdidos = 0 (0% perdidos), Tiempos aproximados de ida y vuelta en milisegundos: Mínimo = 39ms, Máximo = 94ms, Media = 60ms ---------------------------- 60 ms!! guau!! No more, waiting for your answer... Greetings. Daniel Villoldo http://grumpywolf.net
TCH-Andy Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Hi, Since you are in Spain, I would suggest moving your sites to the UK server. As you say, you will get much better timings from there. We have not started moving accounts to the UK yet, but we will be starting to do so shortly. I would see no point in moving to an East coast server for now - I'd move straight to the European ones if most of your visitors are from Europe.
dvilloldo Posted February 10, 2005 Author Posted February 10, 2005 Hi. But the european servers will have different prices... right? If the money difference is not little, maybe I will prefer to continue in the actual data centers, because my 2 main sites are not commercial, and I need to pay them all the years How about the possibility of moving the account in server35 to the other data center (the one of server26)? Thanks and greetings.
mjovery2 Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Hi, Since you are in Spain, I would suggest moving your sites to the UK server. As you say, you will get much better timings from there. We have not started moving accounts to the UK yet, but we will be starting to do so shortly. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope the moves are by request only. I am quite happy with all my websites/accounts being hosted in the USA. What I certainly don't like is the apparent exchange rate of 1£ to 1 dollar when many hosting companies branch out to the UK . I have seen this far too often. I am sure that Totalchoicehosting will not follow this practice. UK users are ripped off in so many areas..as you will no doubt be aware, living in the UK. I spend a lot of my time in wonderful Arizona...and fully appreciate all the advantages that USA consumers have...Yes, the customer really does come first in the Land of the Free...and Totalchoicehosting is a spendid ambassador for this prerequisite for customer satisfaction! TCH-Andy Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Hi, Yes, it would not be right for everyone to move to UK servers. I was not suggesting we would move them without a request - sorry if it came across as that. Personally, I host a number of sites (I have a reseller account) and I will probably keep that in the US, because many of my visitors are from the US. On the other hand, a ping time of less than 10ms from me to the UK server is tempting

TCH-Rob Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 For those that are wanting to make the move, when we do it, I think you will be quite happy with the pricing structure. A little more patience and you will get to see.

DaemonLee Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I edited your post as well as if you are requesting server changes Please open a help desk Ticket Thank you <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I request that my email would remain, as it is a valid method of contact and isn't used for any other methods like account verification. Please leave it be, or remove that feature also from VBB. My question was: Are there any servers closer to Washington State?
TCH-Dick Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I request that my email would remain, as it is a valid method of contact and isn't used for any other methods like account verification. Please leave it be, or remove that feature also from VBB. My question was: Are there any servers closer to Washington State? We prefer members do not post personal information regardless of the reason. As for you question, all server related issues and requests MUST go through the help desk.
