youneverknow Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Our friends at Lavasoft have released a new version of Ad-Aware called Personal SE It found stuff the 6.0 version couldn't... This version is Free and I personally reccomend it to all Here is the link to downloads.com http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910...page&tag=button youneverknow Here is a screen shot Quote
cmuskett Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I downloaded it and ran it.. then ran spybot and spybot still caught a few that AdAware missed... Quote
matman Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Yes, but I find that AdAware catches some that Spybot will miss as well. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I use AdAware SpyBot and "Del *.*" The combination catches everything. It is an almost perfect solution with one minor glitch. Just using the first two seems to work pretty well also for me. Quote
boxturt Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I tried the new AdAware last night and it quarantined mozz.dll and I didn't realize it at the time. The browser continued to function last night but this morning when I powered on the pc Mozilla would not / could not load. That was weird and uncalled for. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Ty, better go for the Del *.* I have noticed interesting things before when running AdAware as well, not lately mind you but I read through everything it is sending to quarantine and remove those I "know" I need. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I have noticed interesting things before when running AdAware as well, not lately mind you but I read through everything it is sending to quarantine and remove those I "know" I need. Same here especially with my "hosts" file. Quote
curtis Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I use A-Squared . It finds things missed by Ad-Aware, Spybot,Pest Patrol,Spy Sweeper and a few others. The free version doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the paid version($30.00) and it takes some time to scan but its my choice for cleaning up spyware. Quote
teyong Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Thank you both, youneverknow and Curtis. Curtis you know I love free programs. David Quote
DarqFlare Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I use a three-pronged attack after battling spyware recently: Ad Aware SE SpyBot HijackThis! Whenever I have other pesky spyware that won't remove, I research it on Google. Quote
