dlevens Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Hey guys, I have been shopping around for quite some time and was about to make the jump to TCH when I found ipowerweb. I am still 90% sure I want TCH but could use some help convincing myself. Has anyone out there tried ipowerweb and can tell me why TCH is better? Or if anyone from TCH can offer some pointers as to why TCH is a safter route to take. What is holding me back is the fact that I can get 40GB transfer for $7.95 since space is not much of an issue for me I am not really comparing the storage I would get. But I do a lot of email forwarding for family and friends and my few websites I have see a decent amount of traffic. I am sure there are a lot of things I am missing which is why I am hoping that this forum can help me make the final jump. One huge bonus for TCH is this forum, ipowerweb and most others are not so bold to offer a forum for the community to help each other. Dennis Levens Quote
GroovyFish Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Dennis, I too considered ipowerweb when I was looking for a host almost a year ago. My first clue to choose TCH was at www.findmyhosting.com. The differance in customer ratings was amazing ipower is only 53% while TCH is 96% (those are current numbers but are reflective of what they were a year ago). That there tells quite a bit! Once I visited the TCH forums, I knew I had found my "home" and have been very very happy ever since. A friend of mine is who recommened ipowerweb originally. I talked to him recently and he is no longer hosting there and I cannot repeat his personal "review" of the service. HTH Quote
dlevens Posted June 14, 2004 Author Posted June 14, 2004 GroovyFish, Thanks for the info, that does help, and I too found the forums a major selling point. EDIT: I just read some of the customer reviews on that website you mentioned. It appears my mind is now made up. Ipowerweb would be a major mistake, so I will be making the move to TCH. Dennis Quote
TCH-Rob Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Well then, welcome home Dennis. You will find that if nothing else these forums make it all worth it. Should you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask and once you get set up stop by the introductions area for a proper introduction and welcome. Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Welcome to the Family Dennis and your new home! Glad you decided to join us. We really are like family here. So if you need anything, just ask your new family! We love to help Quote

dlevens Posted June 14, 2004 Author Posted June 14, 2004 Quick question about signing up. It is asking me if I am a new customer or if I have an existing account. I tried using existing acocunt since I have created an account to use these forums, but is this correct? Or is the forum account I am using now not really a TCH account? I would like to use the same email address and password that I used to make this forum account. Dennis Quote
TCH-Dick Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 The forum account is sepperate and has no ties to your hosting account. Welcome to the family Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 When signing up do not use an addy at your site. Also when you get to your new cpanel change the contact address to one not at your site. This will insure that you receive important e-mails from TCH during the signup and later. This is the one place I put one of my IPS addys. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Welcome to the family, Dennis We are sure you will enjoy our new home. Quote

MikeJ Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 (edited) Just do a search on their website for the hosting provider (such as "totalchoice" for TCH). Click on one of the results and you should find a way to the rating and user comments. And welcome aboard Dennis! Thumbs Up Edited June 14, 2004 by TCH-MikeJ Quote

Hockeypuck Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 I run one site hosted here and one site hosted at iPower. I love TCH. iPower provides perfectly valid service for a resonable price, they do a good job. However, you have to know what you're doing to get things done. Their knowledge base is way out of date, and they have nothing like the Family forums here provide. iPower is good, but TCH is great! Welcome to the family. Quote
dlevens Posted June 14, 2004 Author Posted June 14, 2004 Well I can say one thing for sure, I am blown away already by the response to my post. Looks like I made a great choice Thanks guys for the confirmation. Dennis Quote
