kkashi
From work, I am unable to get to cpanel. The authentication window does not pop-up. I know that cpanel uses port 2082. Is there any workaround? This is very important for me. Thanks, Kevin

MikeJ
15 minutes and 6 views .... give us a little time to discover the post. If you cannot access 2082, you can try https://******:2083 to get to the https (SSL) port, however it's likely they will block that port as well. The most appropriate way to get it to work, though, is to have your network group allow those ports through. Circumventing their firewall rules could be hazardous to your job. kkashi
Thaks. I tried the https, but didn't work. I got furthur (dialog box poped-up), but please attachment for the error that was generated. Thanks,
MikeJ
That would be a typical error you would get if the port is blocked by your companies firewall.
TCH-Don
My corp network blocks this as well. I suspect most do.
kkashi
If this is common, why doesn't Total Choice Hosting does not configure the CPANEL to another port?! How difficult would it be for them to do so? It appears that other hosting services, using CPANEL, have done so.

Madmanmcp
If this is common, why doesn't Total Choice Hosting does not configure the CPANEL to another port? And what would this accomplish? A firewall blocks all ports and to have one open someone needs to manually code it to be open. So moving to another port will just find another dead end. As others have suggested you need to talk with the network admins but this is usually not going to help. They will open up ports if its for a work related project and there is a need for it. Access for personal information on company equipment is usually frowned upon.
kkashi
Okay, I found a solution for this issue and it would be beneficial for others. I see so many users with this problem. 1> Access Cpanel using SSL (port 2083) https://yourdomain/cpanel or an alternate SSL connection (not documented by Cpanel) 2> http://******/securecontrolpanel

Madmanmcp
Uhm... Isnt number one what Mikej suggested?Yes, and they replied at first that it did not work. Thaks. I tried the https, but didn't work. but now it works, go figure
DarqFlare
One thing I'd like to add here... TCH can't just up and change how the servers are being accessed for you. You're on a shared account, and changing the ports would also affect those around you. There is too much overhead trying to accomodate the single user with problems. {Edit} Good to see you've got it working. bellringr
You are blaming TCH because your work blocks cpanel? My company blocks boatloads of things including sites on women's health, online translation dictionaries and other harmless things, probably because of a link on those pages. They also blocked ezboard for a long time. Know what I did? I waited til I got home to read the boards and actually did work at work. MikeJ
Kevin asked a valid question, let's not jump all over him. So are you able to access your cPanel now, Kevin?
laurin1
This is also a problem for me. I realize that TCH can't change things for one person, but I do work on another account that uses CPANEL and i can get into that one (I access CPANEL like a subdomain http://cpanel.domain.com). My company blocks almost everything but 80 and 443. I tried the secure control panel, but it doesn't work either.
