  1. i agree...my cable modem was the same way when I was using it. Now I've got a static dsl connection, so I don't have to worry as much about that. Worrying about hackers, etc, is another topic!
  2. ill-gotten (I'm not gonna put down what I FIRST thought of! After all...this is a family forum.)

  4. Since you have a cable modem, Patricia's solution should work. If it does not, try turning the computer off, turn the modem off, wait about 1 minute, then turn everything back on. That would also request a new IP address.
  5. From the "For What It's Worth" department...I prefer squirrelmail to Horde or Neo. Squirrelmail just seems very simplistic compared to the others. (But everyone has their own likes and dislikes!)
  6. Sounds like you've done pretty much all you can do for the time being (at least what I would do!). I would recommend watching your logs carefully for the next few days to see if your spammer comes back.

  10. I just delete them w/o opening. (Of course, I probably don't get as many of these as some people either!)
  11. It might work by booting into "Safe mode". I personally haven't done it, but it may work. And welcome to the forums!

  18. Firstly, take a DEEP breath and exhale slowly. (You'll lose less hair that way!) Now, let's take the problems 1 at a time. You can do a search on your system for the file "phormjr.zip". Then once you find it, you can unzip it (assuming you have some type of program on your computer that does that). Next problem...cPanel. If you go to ht*ps://www.your-web-site.com:2083/, you can enter your username and password that you used when you signed up for hosting. That will get you into cPanel. Somewhere in cPanel is File Manager. When you click on the folders or files in File Manager, look at the screen and you should be able to see where to change the permissions. Learning something new is not easy. Just remember that EVERYONE was in your shoes once before. We all asked questions and experimented with different deseigns and programs to learn what we know today. Take your time and experiment with either phormjr or DodosMail and see which one you like. Then add it to your site and test, test, test. By taking the time and not rushing, you'll have a more enjoyable time designing your site and that will come across to your visitors as well.
  19. This thread has gotten me interested in Vonage now. (Thanks, folks! ) I'm wondering a couple things: 1. Has anyone who NEEDED to keep their old number not been able to? 2. Has anyone used any of the overseas packages? If so, what are/were your results? 3. Has anyone gotten Vonage with BellSouth DSL? My wife is from the Philippines and calls there quite often, hence the overseas requirement. Just explorin' the possibilites for now!

  23. Thanks for the link, Tracy. Unfortunately, it goes to an .asp file and TCH doesn't support asp. It also appears to be a FP-generated file. As nkycomputers pointed out, by learning the basics of php you will have a lot easier time. Don't worry...it's not that hard! Tutorials and help files are found all over the net. If you look at the content in the html tab in FP, that will also help you learn what's going on behind-the-scenes. I haven't used the phorm program that nkycomputers provided the link to, so I can't help you out specifically with that. But anything that you can do to move away from .asp files (in my own personal opinion) is a good thing...unless of course your site needs them! Hope this helps with a little guidance. If you still have any questions, ask away. I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. Hopefully one of our resident MS-guru's madmanmcp will chime in to help you out.
  24. First, welcome to the forums. Next, try removing and reinstalling the Extentions. Sometime that fixes the problems. Next, I noticed that the URL is looking for a file on C: drive, meaning that it's on looking for something on YOUR computer. Are you sure the file is located on the server? If it is, change the path to point to where the file is located. Hope this helps!
  25. Good idea...that'll be in the next rewrite of the site!
