And some of us go off Daylight saving time in other parts of the world as well. So there is basically a 2 hour swing around.

I would think that unless they click on the thumbnail then only the thumbnail sizes would count towards your bandwidth for the total of them per page that you have. So if you have say 10 thumbnails and they are 30kb each then 300kb in total would be used for your bandwidth. Does that cover what you mean.

It is nice to see that problems are resolved, but as a user/reseller it would be good to see comments on how it was resolved. Might make searching on threads by people to find answers to problems a bit more informative.

I had a similar problem with the upgrade. In one site of cpanel I could see the forum at all, in another site of cpanel it just came up with an error when I selected to upgrade. It apparent all was because of a particular skin I was using that was obviously confusing the upgrade to occur or be seen at all. I lodged a ticket about it, the person who worked on the ticket, changed the skin, and I was able to then do the upgrade seamlessly. Current I am using x-skin as the skin in cpanel. So it might be a similar problem as well. I would have thought the skins would have been heavily tested before being released in the real world for useage, but you can't have everything all the time can you.

Just as a matter of interest, try using your cpanel username and password as the login and see if you can connect to mysql database that way. I had similar problems last night when setting up a photo web gallery PHP script and had similar problems and just as a matter of trying I did try my username and password for the cpanel login for the particular website I was installing it to, again after setting up another database, but deleted that one and used the one already in there. If that all makes sense to you.

Which Photo Web Gallery script is better of the two mentioned on TCH install scripts link at top of this forum. Is it Gallery or Coppermine.

Thanks guys I will look tomorrow, getting late here in Sydney. Will get back and let you know. At present, after reading your comments, it might be fine to just leav things the way they are and apply the template to the main pages.

I don't know if this is too late but this website probably will help with a lot of info regarding designing websites what not to do. It was recommended to me at a University I was studying at 2 years ago. http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/ I hope this info helps you and others that might be interested.

I have taken over hosting and upgrading a website for a church community centre website that I am doing for them at no cost to them. The website was originally designed by someone else and I am keeping the design, but it originally had a template attached to it, that I was unable to get hold of. I have updated menu links and have had to change them on all the pages which is very time consuming. So I have done a template and would like some help with an idea I have regarding the information that is being displayed when each of the menu links is selected. What I would like to happen is something like I have done in frames designed websites where the main frame is updated with information when a selection is made from the menu. Problem I have is the graphics on the website really don't transcribe across to a frames designed website very well as it is currently desinged in tables and is a little complex (well to me it is, I'm still learning). Why I want to do this, is so the graphics are loaded once and the info that changes is mostly text information. I want to do this to help out visitors to the website not having to load the images all the time a page changes. I know they images are cached once loaded, but there is still some lag in the page loads. It is alright for those with broadband access (cable, ADSL etc) but those with dialup will spend unnecessary time viewing the different information on the website. (I hope that all made sense). I use Macromedia Studio, have Frontpage (don't like it), NoteTab Pro (great if you know HTML, although it is forgiving), etc etc etc. The template is done, but I don't know how to get the links from the menu to display the information in the editable region of the page. My assumption is, I create an index.html page based on the template which protects the layout and the only place that gets info in it is the editable region. Or am I going about this all wrong. At present there are about 8 links in the menu which may change over the comming weeks as modifications are done and reviewed by the office area, and that is why I want to base things on a template for the menu area so I only have to make one lot of changes, instead of having to make changes now on 8 pages, which is time consuming, and leads to coding errors. Any help, advice, assistance would be greately appreciated. The website is currently live, although very few people know about it, due to information being very out of date. http://www.cofchristnc.org.au . And I'm not even a member of the congregation, but my kids go to some of the activities that they run, like a camp and that is why I am donating my hosting, and web creativity to them. It is all I can basically help them with, as my funds are very limited due to a back injury and not being able to do what I am really trained to do, which is working as a Nurse in an Operating Theatres. And Bill (HeadGuru), thanks for the help and advice you gave me today. As always from one old fella to another old fella, much appreciated.

Thanks everyone, and Guru, if I wasn't locked into so much invested into Microsoft PC and other compatible software I probably would head down the Mac side. I also understood the IMac suggestion was a Joke, got it the first time. I eventually found the support newsgroups and after looking through all the recent replies came across the simple answer to the problem. Basically Don't have a shortcut to Notepad on your desktop named Notepad make sure it is named something else like Notepad2, that way the View Source Code works, tried it just now and instantainously fixed. All that for the past few days for something so simple. You would think that Microsoft would have put that in the Knowledge base by now, seems to have been an on going problems for a long time, by the sound of the replies in the newsgroups.

Thanks for the Heads up but that didn't work. I have tried all that previously, but did try it again, even deleted IE and reinstalled it, but still the same. I am running Windows 2000 by the way and most of the info relates to Win NT, WinME and Win98. Any other suggestions would be helpful. The funny thing is, it has only just happened in the past few days.

I have in the past couple of days, been unable to view the source code of a webpage in Internet Explorer 6 by clicking View Source on the menue. All my defaults seem OK and updates are done, don't understand this problem. Has anyone got any suggestions at all regarding this. This is a major headache when looking at webpages and getting ideas on how something is done for webdesign and problem solving. Regards Peter
