  1. Here is the list of banned scripts. Pmachine isn't in there, and from what I've read it's not any more intensive than most of the other current, popular blogware out there. You should be fine. =)
  2. That cpanel test drive is located at cpanel.net - it's not a totalchoice demo but a cpanel demo, indicative of their sites downtime not tch's. =) The uptime at TCH is absolutely fantastic, I am confident you won't find that an issue. =)
  3. It's monthly, you should see something like this above the summary: First visit Summary Last visit 12 Mar 2004 - 08:09 Month Mar 2004 30 Mar 2004 - 15:05 only tabled much more nicely =) You can see a year view by using the drop down and going to year. Beyond that I don't believe AWStats can handle. =)
  4. (I'm also a customer, but...) Yes, all transfers of any sort will count against your bandwidth allocation.
  5. same, I use firefox and don't get any unrequested popups. =)
  6. I use MT for all my site organization. I also answer a ton on their support forums. If you have questions about that I'd be more than happy to help, just shoot me an email or pm. Or better yet, contact me on IM. =)
  7. bell, I use dodos mail for a feedback form - my email isn't posted on m site anywhere, to get it people have to use the form =) has helped a fair bit, I'd say. My spam used to increase daily, since I put that in its stayed a steady amount. =)
  8. 7seven8, I can't speak for anyone else, but I had innumerable issues with ascii vs. binary uploads utilising ws_ftp. smartftp seems to get it right everytime, as long as you have it in the list in the options. Because you'll probably end up installing plugins etc, you might want to check out that program, it's free anyway, for personal use. =) ... and I'm not really lucky. I've installed MT 4 or 5 times now, the first 2 times I had a lot of problems, it's a learning experience.
  9. Also, what ftp/method are you using to upload it? Some programs can be a real pita with this. I personally use SmartFTP and had no problem getting MT to work here.. =)
  10. I use all of them, but thats not an option in the poll ;p
  11. nose
  12. The easiest thing to do for that would be to sign up at www.browsercam.com. I used to use that all the time but I haven't made any layout changes lately... I personally don't worry about version 4 browers - my stats show 0 users from them. But if you want to be careful with them you can use @import (instead of using link) to have older browsers ignore the css - then they'd just get an unstyled page, I believe....
  13. I agree with Raul on this. Even though I only run a personal site I do extensive cross browser testing, including using browser cam, to ensure that anyone that wants to visit my site can see it. I do draw lines at version 4 browsers, but - I have 0% visitors from those according to AWStats. I would think embedding fonts would slow down website loading speeds, although I have not tested it. As a business decision, deciding to ignore a small portion of your customrs can lead to bigger catastrophes. Word of mouth is one of the best advertising tools. Some of the people using the better tools (better than IE, not difficult!) may be the most able to bring more customers. Especially if you work in a computer oriented field. Believe me, I would love to use specialized fonts on my sites and ensure everyone can see them. That level of style control would be thrilling to me - but with WEFT I'd never see it, I use firefox. 40% of my statistics show non ie based browsers. I simply could not institute that technology (which is old and not supported even by IE anymore, I believe, though I am not sure) in good faith.
  14. I am running MT as a cms, but its a personal site. http://www.lisa-jill.com the entire site is controlled by MT, and is fairly customized on the back-end. I have put up a colophon so that people know how I'm doing things, if that helps. =) About phpbb - you can install this straight from cpanel, easy and painless. After looking at the Mambo requirements I believe that you should be ok. The only item I'm I'm not 100% sure of is the zlib support - but my cpanel has 3 zlib::compress modules listed, so I think you're good to go. According to the stats in my cpanel, the version numbers should be fine for Mambo. (php 4.3.3 and mysql 4.0.18-standard and apache 1.3.29) I'm on server60, so I'm not sure how much divergence there is in this. A tech support type can answer that. =) You'll have to install Mambo on your own, as its not a cpanel install, but looks ok from what I read. Hope that helps, yell if ya have more questions!
  15. ignoring this since we're in IM, will update here after =)
  16. Is this when you go there in a browser? Have you set up a user id and password via webprotect, or directly edditng .htaccess/.htpasswd for the forum/admin directory, and are possibly entering the wrong details? Also, you didn't supply a url to the forums so it's a bit hard for me to see whats going on. =)
  17. so you are still unable to ftp and update files? Or have you found a way around it? Because if you can ftp in some way, then it might not be of consequence =)
  18. connection timed out to which url? the website or the ftp? also can you clarify - were you able to get access or are you still struggling? If you are able to gain access it may not be worth troubleshooting this. =)
  19. Deno, go into your web-browser and type into the location bar: ftp://starryconstellation.com also, confirm if you can get to http://www.starryconstellation.com - if you can get to that you should be able to get to the other. then come back here and let me know what happens next, in detail =) We'll go from there! Mmm, after re-reading I thinkyou got it working? =)
  20. My pleasure - is it throwing a password error or just timing out? Need to know why it's not connecting to try to fix it. =) I tried ftping to www.starryconstellation.com and it worked for the public ftp - so is it throwing an authentication error? Id/password, that is? =)
  21. When you say it's not working, what do you mean? Also, are you using the basic ftp or did you set up a special one in cpanel? What program did you decide to go with for ftp? Also, try www.starryconstellation.com - might be better luck with that.
  22. just your domain name should work - i use lisa-jill.com to logon to my ftp. I'd suggest ws_ftp over the network connections thing in windows - more control and works better. =)
  23. spam
  24. Do you have a url for the forums? Also, how are you accessing the admin panel? You should be using the link at the bottom of the forums that shows up if you're logged in with admin level privelidges. Also, have you done any customization/ever gotten that far? I'm also a little confused as to where you're getting the 404, and what exact steps you're taking. If you can clarify a bit it will help to troubleshoot it. =)
  25. No worries, glad you got it worked out!
