  1. Well, I did a search on your name and ip and came up with nothing =/ You are showing 18 pages of posts so I don't think it's been archived. Tried a bunch of things, like "find AND ip" and "find ip" and "what is my ip" and about 10 others. but, in the meantime, you can use http://www.whatismyip.com/ to find out. Or you can go to start -> run, type cmd, then at the prompt type "ipconfig" - that will tell you your internal ip address. Does that help? Sorry that I couldn't find the thread. I'm usually pretty good with search engines, too.
  2. I just did a search for "banned script" and it worked fine. Also tried "anonymous" and seems to be working. What search terms were you using? [edit add] also tried "contest AND laptop" and that worked too....
  3. You're just afraid of my mighty SuperSoaker 40k. *jets off to class*
  4. Yes, Thomas, that's part of why it's not the best way to do this. But in many cases the people they registered with are still their host. I really don't know a 100% way of finding out who the host is =/ I won the water fight of course; I always win water fights.
  5. There are two ways that you might be able to do this; neither are fullproof. One, you can tracert it; this does work with tch but may not work or be evident with all ISP's. To do that, go to start menu, click run, type 'cmd'. In the new window that pops up type "tracert website" ie: "tracert www.lisa-jill.com". The other is to find anyone that does whois (you can do that from this page) on the domain (ie lisa-jill.com, no www) and see who they're registered with. In some cases it may be the ISP, but it very often is not. You can also use whois on the last site that comes up on the tracert. Neither of these is fullproof; I don't know of a definite way to do it. =) Hope that helps!

  7. Yes, it is possible. There are two ways. You can include a meta tag in the header of each page that instructs robots to ignore it and links, that would look like this: ><meta name="robots" content="none"> or ><meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> Here is a thread that explains the various methods, pro's and con's. Does that help?
  8. You could try modifying the permissions on the affected folder. I'd try 755 probably, but I'm out of practice with troubleshooting permissions. Or at least check what they are. Otherwise a quick help desk ticket would get this resolved without fiddling. =)
  9. thank you for those links. I'll definitely be looking over those. If you have the time; could you tell me why you switched to linux? I'm just curious about the different variants. =)
  10. 35 gig is not actually the biggest plan, you can get a semi or dedicated server (details). But yes, you can purchase more bandwidth, you'll see the prices at the bottom of the web hosting page, it is currently 1GB = $2.50/Monthly. But you would want to keep a close eye on this, as I believe if you go over you may get suspended, you would want to purchase the additional bandwidth prior to reaching your limit. =) Does that help?
  11. This second site, with postnuke, is at another provider? About the database: When moving your database what you would want to do i take an export of the database (easiest way I know to do this is via phpmyadmin) and then import that database here, install postnuke (without running the database installer) make sure paths/id's/passwords all match and theoretically, it should work. I've done this with other systems but not postnuke specifically. About bandwidth: What you would need to do is analyze your log files; at tch this is done very easily via cpanel and AWStats. I'm not sure what set up you have for your other site so I can't see it. Does that help to answer your questions? Let us know if you have more or need clarification!
  12. *blushes* I learned a long time ago that not asking questions is a sure way to frustration and not fixing things.
  13. Hrm, I had to install it on my old host since it wasn't available (they wanted 1grand to install it, nevermind ) and I had to explicitly invoke .htaccess protects on its subdirectory; thats why I suggested that. It's entirely possible that I didn't install it 100% correctly, at that. =)
  14. All resolved. I didn't have a resolv.conf; the folks at the freebsd-questions mailing list had me sorted in under an hour. So neat *grins* Thanks everyone =)
  15. I don't usually have any problems with this. I paid for Adwatch and run firefox; so between the combination popups just never get there. Adwatch was definitely money well spent though. =)
  16. Well, it has internet access. Except that it can't resolve domains. Funny thing is I got it running from sysinstall, but everytime I reboot it loses it and wants to re-set it up. I can get to any ip address but after that its not working. It wants me to add a domain too; which may be the problem, since I'm not - that machine doesn't actually have a domain associated with it... *goes back to the tutorials*
  17. Thank you, Rob! I will give this walkthrough a shot today. I'm really enjoying playing with this; I had missed access to unix and gotten rusty with it. It's too important a skill to me to lose and I had this spare pc just calling out for help, you see?
  18. Hi everyone =) I am looking for some very patient, kind soul that is willing to hold my hand through getting my newly installed freebsd box on to my home network, for the express purpose of internet access. I have some experience working with solaris, all shell, and I've gone with kde on the freebsd box. It's up and running and its beautiful and fast and happy. I just don't even know where to start on networking it. There are 6 computers (all xp) on this network, so re-arranging the network itself is out of the question; I somehow have to make this talk to the existing one. If anyone wants to undertake this, let me know. I'm not sure what information I need to supply to even get this started; which is part of why I'm undertaking this, to learn. I'll understand if everyone is scared off *grins* If anyone even has a clear, concise tutorial, that will work. I'm still in the process of perusing google but I think my eyes are about to fall out.
  19. personally, i would drop it into a subdirectory and use Web Protect against it; but that's just me.
  20. Of course. I will try to get back to you or have someone more knowledgable with that get back to you here, as soon as possible.
  21. This forum is definitely a fantastic resource. Thumbs Up 1) you can create a database, a user, and assign just that user to the database. It has full rights control as well, so you have fairly good control over that. 2) I'm really not sure on this one. 3) No, the subdomains will work no matter where it's registered from. to clarify: as long as the domain name is resolved at TCH (which it must be for the site to be hosted here) then you will have control of the subdomains via cpanel. We look forward to having you as part of the family. Rock Sign =)
  22. Yes, its very useful. Anytime I remove those lines (I have probably 50 or so keywords blocked now) I am instantly inundated. My last 300 errors almost consistently says "client denied by server configuration...." Amazing the lows that people will sink to.
  23. Yes I'm up late. =) Glad you got it worked out! Thumbs Up
  24. noxi, do you have a link to the site in question? It would be easier to see if there was an incorrect path or some other glitch happening, in order to assist you.
  25. Thank you. =) We share names too.. my middle name is Jill...
