You can try renaming it textclock.cgi -ty

Cool. It seems to work very well. I put up my own test page HERE . If you follow a search result to an actual song file you'll have to 'back-button' out as the navigation doesn't work in this scenario. -Ty

Thank you Rick. I'll certainly let you know how it goes -ty

I've just installed and indexed my site with iSearch and I would like to automatically index the site once weekly. The script suggests using a cron job and suggests the following command line syntax : /usr/bin/php -q /home/user/public_html/isearch/admin/reindex.php Is this correct and or allowed? Thanks, -Ty

Technically I'm not sure but I'd be willing to bet you will be more than happy here. Go for the year. Web Hosting Guarantee If you are not 100% satisfied with your new web hosting service, we will refund your money. No questions asked! (from the TCH home page) -Ty Rock Sign

.....oops (chuckling) ".....bad, bad turtle - go back under the couch!" -Ty

Pretty sure it indicates a Guru.

"/home/user/public_html/AbbaWebPage"; You need to change user to whatever user name was assigned to you when you opened your account. This info would be in your setup email from TCH. Seems like an ok script. I tried it out on a site. Just be careful about the text at the top of each web page that you index. For example - I have (had) a PayPal link with about 4 lines of text begging for donations. So when I got search results the description of each and every page was the "send me money" blurb and not the first 4 lines of page content -Ty.

I believe you don't use c:\ format as it points to your hard drive. $file_root = "/home/user/public_html/Abba Web Page"; You may want to consider closing up the white spaces in your filename as well Abba_Web_Page, AbbaWebPage, etc. -Ty

Hi KW, I did install it outside the cgi-bin in the root directory in a new folder called cgi-script, as per the instructions. I followed the instructions to the letter, I know I did - but all the script files just kept on disappearing. Weird. Maybe I'll find something different to use.
-
Ummm. How come in Cpanel (server 23) it says Perl Path /usr/bin/perl I haven't had any trouble using that.

Hello again. I've been tring to install csSearchPro (www.cgiscript.net) on the lyrics site and all the (script) files keep disappearing off the server before I can even login to the admin panel. 1) It is/was/should be installed outside the cgi-bin, is this not allowed? 2) Is there a security (or other) issue with this script that causes the server to red-flag and dump it? 3) Or am I just experiencing one of those weird flashback things I've been afraid of since '67 ? (btw - if there were a way to configure entropy I'd use it but it doesn't seem to go deep enough) As always, thanks. -Ty
-
Thanks, I may just do that. I also imagine it will sort itself upon the next deep indexing. Ty

LOL.....then there's a lot of people lyric hunting on company time! (which is better than turtle hunting anytime..... )

Good call, thanks. I did find 2 cached older versions, thank you. Why would anyone want to look at those instead of the regular link? (and they're oddball pages too )

This is kind of hard to explain so please bear with me : My site seems to be serving up a phantom page to a lot of my visitors. This page and it's accompanying graphics are no longer on the server and have not been for quite some time. The links to the graphics are eg: and NOT absolute urls. I have checked countless times to be sure the code calling the buttons does not exist anywhere I may have forgotten about. The request for these graphics show in my error log. This tells me the page is coming from the server and not the visitors DNS cache. Or is that wrong? Does TCH ever use a cached site? I know my previous host did. Thoughts? Thanks Ty

Bill, Mt Dew has a beverage called AMP Energy Drink

Generic instant for me, a new jar of Maxwell House is indeed a treat I do have the Gevalia, Lavazza and Rambout's but I would have to make that by the pot. I would drink the entire thing too thus making me the only talking turtle to ever orbit the earth. I better stick to generic instant, by the cup. -,^^,o

Hate? Nah, not me but the gal in Belgium who does the actual song files may. Certainly not the way I would have used a naming scheme but oh well, that part is out of my hands. (and yes, '31' does ring a bell) All these extra files didn't appear on the server until after I requested a backup be generated. Then again, perhaps I never noticed before but it was real obvious. And I could almost see the files being delivered via FTP (using ACE and WS_ftp) and cutting off the ends of files but the proper file (with +32 char) is also there. After I spent a couple hours deleting the semi-duplicates I created a file called ... "thismaybethelongesttitleeverimaginedpossibletoactuallyuseasthefilenameforalyric. tml ... uploaded via ftp and all was well. Very odd

I did a backup of the lyrics site yesterday, the one with 16k worth of files. After I got the backup downloaded I realized I suddenly had way too many files showing in Cpanel/file manager. All files with filenames longer than 31 characters were duplicated and cut off right at 31 characters. The original filename and file remained intact. So I ended up with about 1000 extra files with half a name, .htm, .ht or.h for extensions and so on. Any ideas? ty

Terrific! Welcome -
I'm on a non-dedicated server and as I mentioned, have no problem streaming audio. If you want to let me know what format you're using for your audio files I'd be happy to lend you a hand. Ty

Hiya Jim, On the couple of tests I ran it did not prompt me for anything, just delivered the same error as I posted above. And yes, I FTP'd all 16,000 of them back up the hill and all the stuff I added to the pages works just fine - mostly SSI stuff. BTW - I was able to insert the extra lines with a few lines of perl and a .bat file I wrote. If anyone would like a look just let me know. I was able to add the lines to all 16k of files in about 20 minutes. Thanks for all your responses to yet another bizarre boxturt query! ty

yea, 16k worth. Actually doing it (hoping to do it) so that I CAN include the one line for SSI. However I ran into a problem on a test run: Now what the heck does that mean? Aside from it didn't work. Should I not be using WinZip 8.0? I can of course just ftp 16k worth

I downloaded a full backup just now. There are about 16,000 files I am going to alter slightly. These are all regular html pages. If I zip them up again and upload the one zip file to the right folder will I be able to unzip that file and overwrite the 16,000 original files?? Or will this really mess things up? ty
