Hi , it's not a matter of bandwidth but it might be dangerously close to a TOS violation of pointing a domain to somewhere other than the public_html/index.ext I've always found this issue a little confusing and I want to be certain that I don't get suspended for what someone else is doing.

Ok, please don't stomp on the annoying little boxturtle for asking this. Part of me says "oh yea, you know the answer to this" but in the other hand (paw?foot?)...... maybe not. Let's say I have my domain, which we shall call MyDomainWithAnnoyinglyLongname.com, and somebody other than me registers another domain, say ShortName.com, and points it to me at MyDomainWithAnnoyinglyLongname.com/folder/ ore even to MyDomainWithAnnoyinglyLongname.com/somepage.ext Am I going to wake up one afternoon to find a suspended page for my entire site? Personally it doesn't matter if they do it (point ShortName.com) or not - no one else is claiming the material as their own. I'm thinking this is a no-no but inquiring turtles want to know.......... Quite the honor I understand. Congratulations

I have been through at least 2 recent upgrades as well as implementation of image verification and I am still getting absolutely hammered with bogus entries. I have in fact taken them all (AGs) down and I really do not know if I will do yet another upgrade. Sort of like throwing good time after bad at this point. To echo bellringr it is a shame because I've "met" a lot of real great folks.

Greetings and salivations one again. As you know my laptop recently experienced a shocking demise and we now have conclusive evidence that cats and water and laptops do not mix. I was able to salvage the hard drive and it lives (functioning) in a little hard case and I will probably end up with a stand-alone cd-burner as well. I do not know if the 256 memory card is any good. My daughter has the same model unit and an open memory slot. Can I plug this one right in? Can I take her existing one out and plug my card in? Should I do neither? Should I first take her card and try it in my broken laptop to see if it comes back to life? (probably not a good idea) I was hoping to be able to upgrade her to 512 and I can't find a shop that can / will test cards. As always - thanks.

I have come close to addressing this question back in October but this time it's a little different. My laptop took a bath died a shocking death a little while back and I am looking to replace it, possibly with a Dell Inspiron 2200 Celeron 'M' Processor (fits the budget and looks fine for what I do) and it has some wireless options. internal 802.11b/g or internal 802.11a/b/g My current "access point" is 802.11b protocol. Am I correct in assuming that either of the options will work with my existing setup but at the slower speed?

This just in............... IT'S STILL DEAD!!! Anyway, for $10.06 (s/h inc.) i got a HD case from Ebay. It says it's for IBM Travelstar but it fits the 2.5 drive from laptop. Plugged it in and it works. My data is all there, which is helpful but I'm still bummed. So thus ended another chapter in the ongoing saga................

Well, it's toasted and not in a good, Quiznos sort of way. I had a nice long chat with Dell support. We tried this, that and the other thing and then we tried it all again and then again but in reverse. I was told to try recharging (letting it recharge) and trying again but that's not happenning either sooooooooo .......it looks like the mobo be fried. Probably cheaper to buy a new laptop Thanks to all for the input. I appreciate it very much. Ty

Yea, in theory it should work but.......... one never knows. I'm not sure I want to risk ending up with 2 wrecked machines. If mine does not come back around I think I'll forget it, I don't think I'll lose too much data (thank goodness for backups) and I may look for the ext. case / adapter. I'd mostly just hate to lose the machine as it was a gift from a group of very supportive friends. Thanks and I'll let you know how it goes.

Yesterday my now ex-cat knocked a flower vase full of flowers and water off of a shelf mounted directly above my open and running laptop. Ok, I won't blame it on my now ex-cat, she can't help it. Afterall - cats eat flora. So I shall curse my now ex-wife who put a flower vase full of flowers and water on a shelf mounted directly above my open and running laptop within easy reach of my hungry ex-cat. The story is true but I jest - I blame me. Dell Inspiron 1100 and the owner's manual actually has a chapter on what to do if the unit gets wet. So I have removed everything removeable (HD, memory, battery) and have left it open and 'ventilating' for the past 24 hours. Ok, that's all fine and good but I don't have my hopes up too high for it coming back to life when I try to power it up again in another day or so. Here comes the question part: Can I put the hard drive into another Dell 1100 to retrieve my 'stuff' without harming the second, working unit? This of course assumes my HD is not damaged. It also assumes that my daughter would be kind enough to drive down with her laptop and give her old man a little help I look forward to your replies and as always I thank you.

Sounds tough and sounds like you got through it. My daughter just graduated and has shared the weird experience of not having a document to work on and that it was time to move forward. Congratulations!

Just my 2 cents here but as it's not a required field I wouldn't worry about it. I do think it's a very nice thing you're trying to do but you're not the one who's going to get spammed. Perhaps it would be easier to add a disclaimer?
