I tried that as the very first thing when I noticed that the bar was appearing at the top of the page, Don. : ) Thanks, David. Worked like a charm. I'm being told that the layout looks completely whacked in IE -- the sidebar is pushed to the bottom and lies horizontally, as opposed to stacked vertically, plus some other issues -- but that seems to be a problem with the Javascript.

So, I redesigned my blog. All well and good ; it took about five minutes. However, this one element is giving me issues. I want it positioned 10px from the bottom of the page with a 10px margin on top, but it ends up right underneath the top bar with the same properties (only reversed). It works perfectly well on other pages -- individual archives, etc -- but not on the index. Here's the code for the element (the same code is used both on the pages on which it works and those on which it doesn't - only the class names are different). My blog is on my profile if anyone wants to check it out and see what I mean. >.bottom { width: 700px; margin: 10px 0px 10px 0px; padding: 10px; text-align: left; border: 1px solid #C05F97; background-color: white; } The only difference between the layouts of each page is that I use a container element on the index and not on the others. I hope this isn't an issue, as the container is really "keeping everything in." Here's the container CSS : >.container { width: 700px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; }

I would definitely stay away.

I'd enable hotlink protection for all images, only allowing the URLs of the forums and boards that you frequent to link to images like avatars and such.

I just posted a comment, regarding the fact that the rest of the world -- or a lot of European countries -- is in fact donating aid in the aftermath of Katrina. : )

Feet can shrink when you lose weight, like in my case.

It comes down to preference. If you're happier somewhere else, then move there. No-one is forcing you to use TCH. However, it's simple stupidity to post a whining diatribe that can be easily refuted. Also, what were you expecting in posting it for all to see instead of taking your grievances to the relevant people in private? Support from people who are obviously happy with the hosting they receive here?

I'm a size 8, but I used to be a size 10.

Yeah, that's really why I downloaded it - not to switch from Firefox, but to use as a reference to make sure my website looks OK across the board.

Mine came within 10, but I was reading a friend's blog and she had to wait 25.

Ooh, they must've changed it. Earlier this afternoon it was strictly an email thing.

Yeah, the registration codes can take up to 10 minutes to be emailed.

Opera is offering free registration for today only - 12am PDT is when the offer ends. Go here for details.

As far as I know, it's only older versions of MT that can cause problems like this or result in suspension. (I think I remember a thread somewhere around here that mentioned updating scripts as often as updates are released.)

It's making me want to go back to Paris right now. I wish I knew who took it.

I found this online, and wanted to share it. (Not dialup friendly.) Paris By Night - Panorama.

I may give it a whirl whenever Arvind releases it, or I may stick with hardcoded links. Not sure yet. The only template I was dynamically publishing was one that contained maybe three lines of code (since deleted, because it was an MT Blogroll template), but I'd heard somewhere that even a small template could cause issues.
-
I'm new to the world of dynamic publishing, and was wondering what strains - if any - it will put on my resources? I've installed the MT Blogroll plugin and I'm not even sure that it works yet I haven't seen anyone update. I'd have no problem switching back to handcoded URLs if it causes issues, even though the script is a tiny file. * Apparently it isn't working, anyway. I added my own link to test, and pinged Pingomatic. I'm appearing as updated on Blogrolling but not with MT Blogroll.

I'll have a double vodka on the rocks. I need it after the week I've had.
