  4. For those of you out there who use a CMS, what's your favorite and why? I'm experimenting with the idea of using a CMS for a site I'm working on, and I like hearing other people's opinions. So sound off here! Thanks!

  7. I see you're on server 34 here at TCH. On to why you're getting a TTL expired in transit message... when I run a ping of dentalit.com, I get this: (in Windows XP Pro) Pinging dentalit.com [69.50.194.230] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.50.194.230: bytes=32 time=65ms TTL=52 Reply from 69.50.194.230: bytes=32 time=64ms TTL=52 Reply from 69.50.194.230: bytes=32 time=63ms TTL=52 Reply from 69.50.194.230: bytes=32 time=63ms TTL=52 Ping statistics for 69.50.194.230: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 63ms, Maximum = 65ms, Average = 63ms When I run a tracert, there are 17 "hops", the last of which being server34.totalchoicehosing.com. Hop #16 times out for me. Anyone else seeing this? And yes, it would be good to know if this person is behind a router or firewall.

  9. I'll look into that. Thanks again!

  11. I can tell you that TotalChoice Hosting is a solid hosting company. Relentless support and uptime. Even for virtual hosting, the servers are responsive. As far as MT, TCH does not directly "support" (ie help with problems, install, etc) third party scripts. However, the people on these forums are always willing to help, and I know several people here have MT installed, and would be able to help you through any problems you may experience.

    Ftp

I personally use/love FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/). And, keeping with my mantra (most of the time), it's open source. You gotta love that. Easy to use and set up.

  14. Just to be sure, make sure you are using ftp.yourdomainname.com(/net/org/whatever you use). Port is 21 (standard). Login name is your cpanel user name, password is the password you created (or what was provided to you). If that doesn't work, try enabling passive mode (I haven't used SmartFTP in quite a while, so I've forgotten where to find that setting). I also highly recommend FileZilla as my Windows FTP client, however if you're comfortable with SmartFTP then by all means continue. Let us know if that doesn't work out, I'll look a little deeper into how mine is set up.
  15. Welcome, Wes. I would personally recommend installing phpBB manually (cpanel version is a little out of date). I'd be more than happy to help you do that if you want to pm me, or ask here in the forums. We're a helpful bunch, really. And the starter plan should last you plenty long. I started with the plan just a step above that (Silver), and come no where near close to any of my allotments (space or bandwidth, but I'm working on filling both up )
  16. I liked the office one. btw, go seamonkey! (fyi I used to be a firefox user but have recently come back to seamonkey).
  17. Sorry, not quite an English major, but pretty darn close when it comes to reading what others write (hey how do you turn this off?)
  18. Yes, like Bruce said, there is a west coast data center (although I don't believe he intended it to be a question lol).
  19. Yes, that seems quite odd that your ISP is not allowing you to use the SMTP servers anymore. What ISP do you use, if you don't mind me asking?
  20. You can also check out this link: http://www.download-by.net/security-and-pr...access-control/ They have some useful looking stuff there (Google search "block access to control panel winxp" will get you more links).
  21. When I was in school, all the computers had a program installed that blocked access to certain things (unless you opened up the program's control panel with the admin password, and disabled blocking of that feature). I don't recall what it was called though, I'll have to look into it more.
  22. There is also Zeta. I've checked out SkyOS before (never used it just was surfing around on the webpage) and thought it looked pretty neat. I don't wish to pay to become a beta tester though.
  23. Yes, I'm a huge Linux fan as well. However, I do have a Pentium MMX 200MHz box, and aparently that's where BeOS shines. Maybe I should just go out and find a copy to try myself.
