We've done a few tweaks on the server to try and improve things, but from the tests I've done, if you include all the headers, the mail goes out almost instantaniously. If you don't include the headers, it either takes forever or gets lost along the way. I havn't done a selective test to determine which are the most significant headers to include - I just include the lot :-) Andy.

Tony, It looks as if you have a corrupt database and it needs repairing (it's probably just locked) If you go into cpanel, then into phpMyAdmin select the database, and then the table 'mos_session.MYI' and at the bottom of the page "With Selected", "Repair table". Andy

Borfast, Yes, my nickname registration kept getting deleted yesterday. I havn't tried yet today, but it was fine until it decided to start playing up. Andy

zethilone, The first thing I would do is to change from using the secure server until you have things working. ie. change to by removing the "s" in the http statement. At the moment it isn't pointing to the right place and that may be the easiest way to get things going. Andy

I think it's a 30 day period during which the 'old owner' can still pay for it, then a 90 day period before it goes back on the open market. Andy

Hi Matt, You will need to change your to point to the script you are trying to use. I would suggest that you use the forms PHP script that surefire has put together Script There are a number of discussions on this script on the forum. There are a number of other changes you will need to make, but I would get the script, reader the header info in it, and then come back and ask questions about the bits you are not sure of. Andy

Hi, c/c++ style I can cope with - myself I go back to being a FORTRAN programmer if I don't watch it I also prefer PHP to Perl, but each to their own I've had a quick look, and don't see any major problem. My only potential issue is that you have a loop defined on the length of the array @keywords. Within that loop you modify the array by removing elements. I'm not certain how Perl handles that, but to me it gives rise to a potential problem. Andy

Hi Jim, Can I check my understanding first. You already have www.troop358.org at Total Choice hosting. You own grynberg.com and it is currently hosted elsewhere. To add another domain to your account here, you need to log into the help desk and then click on the cart up in the top right that says "Place a new order". If you try doing it as a new order (not from within the helpdesk) it will recognise you and say that an account of your name already exists. With the link, could you PM with the link and package that you are after and I will have a look and give you the correct link. Andy

Worked OK for me, but a little dead at this time of day I'd prefer not to use the Java version - I know it will fail to get through my work firewall. But I guess if I point Trillian at the right place that should be fine. Andy

Hi, Other than in my own programming, where to be honest it has usually turned out to be a coding error on my part, it isn't something I've come across. If the code really is that simple, are you happy to post the offending area? Alternatively if you PM me I'll have a quick look. Andy

Personally, I'd use .pdf every time. But it does depend how many people are producing the minutes etc. If it's lots of folk then you don't want to get them all trained in producing .pdf files. You can automate the production of the .pdf files, with batch processing, so that if you get a bunch of word docs you can just leave the computer to it. Andy

I used to get over to the US 6 or 7 times a year, but I havn't been for 18 months. Unfortunately I haven't got any trips organised at the moment, but when I do have, I'll certainly be letting folk know, if just to warn them that there is a mad Brit in the area Goof Andy

Is There Any Way To Restrict The Amount Of Space
TCH-Andy replied to fire ashes's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
ImaD, I don't think you are trying to argue at all, so don't worry on that count. We are between us just trying to clarify things Your view is just as valid as mine, I do not represent Total Choice Hosting in policy issues, so we are speaking as two members and users of the service here. I agree totally that pointing a DNS entry to a subdomain for MyFriendTed would be against the rules. The only area of possible confusion between us is the issue of use of a subdomain by a third party. The AUP states My interpretation is that would be against the above AUP statement because you are offering free web hosting based on a subdomain. My interpretation anyway :-) Andy -
I agree, it's a good one - I like the new avatar to ImaD

Is There Any Way To Restrict The Amount Of Space
TCH-Andy replied to fire ashes's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
ImaD You are right in that the rules on subdomain were relaxed. It's a question for HG really, but my reading would be - you can use your subdomains for anything you like as long as you are doing it and it's legal. In the post that you like HG states To me that means when fire ashes states "i'm hosting" that it is against the rules. You could argue that he might not be taking any money for it, so therefor he is not selling it. If fire ashes were to control the domain and put some pictures on there, then he can decide what goes on, how much space it is taking up, and therefore not a problem. If he gives access to his friend to put whatever he likes on the subdomain, with no control over it himself, then I would consider that hosting, and against the rules. That's my 2c of interpretation anyway Andy -
shop-et, On the sites I maintain, I haven't had a problem. Wht are you trying to do, and what is the error that you get with the script? Andy

Good idea Jack, sounds to me like you've just given yourself a co-ordination job Andy

fire ashes, There was no suggestion that the pictures were illegal. However you state in a subdomain. Which is only allowable if you have a reseller account. If you read the Acceptable Use Policy you will see that it states You may also note: I would suggest that you either upgrade to a reseller account, or remove the subdomain. Otherwise you do face suspension. Andy
