Glad it worked. And HG is right, this is why this forum is great! Rock Sign

You don't "convert" from an .AVI file to an .SWF file because they're two completely different things. AVI is a video file format and SWF is for Macromedia Flash animations. You can indeed import video files into flash animations but that's not "converting" the AVI file to an SWF. There's also another way which is to turn the video into vectorial frames. A good example is here: http://www.egomedia.com/default2.html Check out the "EGOTHEFILM" desktop icon and you'll see what I mean. If you like flash animations, be sure to also check out the rest of their website, it's really cool http://www.egomedia.com I know I've seen some tools to do this but I really can't remember where. Maybe google can help you out.

That basically means that PHP can't access your database. The question is: why? There's two possibilities. One is that you have the wrong username/password in the phpBB configuration but I'm setting that one asside since you said the forums were working fine. The other one is that there's something wrong with the users table on your phpBB MySQL table. If it's nothing serious, you should be able to go to CPanel, go to phpMyAdmin, select the database where you have the phpBB tables, select the "*_users" table and run the Check/Optimize/Repair/Analyze operations. I'm telling you to run them all because I'm not sure which one is the right one. Perhaps "Repair" but as I said, I'm not sure. If that doesn't do it, then there's something else going on. In that case ,post here again and I'll try to help you out.

Yep, I see them with all the browsers I tried, too.

Surefire, the link seems fine from here Maybe there's some problem with your browser accepting redirections, or something. I think he's using some kind of redirection, there. Not sure, though, haven't investigated it. Try this one instead: link removed Or you can also try going in from the main page: link removed Just follow the "PHP" link on the top of the page and then you'll see three other links. The middle one is for PHP Shell. And no, I'm no PHP expert. Perhaps experienced (I've been working with PHP for about 5 or 6 years) but not an expert. I just like to experiment a lot and play with my ideas to see what I can do, where I can get. But I'm no genius in any way.

Humm... you guys are going to have to tell me to shutup on this thread... I have the most huge file filled with great wise quotes Some of these are a bit deep so if you don't get them at first, keep them in your head and sooner or later you'll be confrontated with a situation that will make it clear to you. At least that's what happened with me Here we go: "I have the world's largest collection of seashells. I keep it scattered on beaches all over the world. Maybe you've seen some of it." - Steven Wright

Well, surefire has already put down the most important, I guess... the only one more important that I know is my own content managment system... Anyway, here's something usefull: link removed

Here Is My Try At A Wallpaper.
borfast replied to deranged-brain.com's topic in Xbox / Treo90 Giveaway
Nice one!! Strange I didn't see it before... Anyway, congratulations! -
Here's one solution to part of your problems: http://mozilla.org Here's the solution to the rest: http://linux.com Just kidding, of course But seriously, try Mozilla. I'm sure you won't regret it. Just don't lose your temper over the long loading time

Just a note on the addons: both phpBB and IPB have lots of addons/mods. I believe the respective websites have links to other sites where you can find lots of goodies. Besides, there's always the good old google to help you search for them But anyway, the availability of addons shouldn't influence your choice, since both BBs have lots available.

woooot Yaay! Kick Me Thanks guys! I must say that this was indeed fun. I had a great time making the wallpaper. I also wish to thank Bill for the contest. What other webhosting company would promote such a great contest?? Rock Sign

What if you ask your ex-manager to talk to the big bosses? Maybe he could explain it to them...

In short: Invision Power Board has a lot more features (A LOT) than phpBB. I don't like their template sysyem, though... Not that phpBB's template system is much better but I think I prefer phpBB's to Invision's. I wonder why all these webboard software packages have their own template engine when there's Smarty... I guess people have no better ways to spend their time Anyway, the best way for you to find out which one is best for you, is installing both and trying them out.

OK, while the judges don't give us their decision, let's entertain ourselves with this poll... ok, I admit it, I was bored and had nothing better to do Goof Anyway, which one would you pick? I think I'd pick the Xbox. Not that I'm a great fan of consoles, I always hated them, actually. The thing is that the Treo wouldn't help me much. It's mostly an organizer, I believe, and I already have all I need of an organizer in my cell phone. Besides, there's Xbox Linux... What about you, what will you choose if you win?

I like the way you positioned the elements. Gives you room to keep the desktop icons on the left side without anything behind them

I forgot to mention that one, it was also on my initial idea list but I didn't have the time to do them all. Studying for final exames and making up wallpapers all at the same time is a little tricky

I like it I'd change just one little thing, though: the orange color. TCH's color range has a strong yellow, not orange But it's probably the one I like best, anyway

Dave, I'm a ferocious defender of cross platform compatibility, believe me. But this time the objective was to make a wallpaper for windows only. I knew my wallpaper would not work on any operating systems other than windows but since it was not supposed to anyway, I decided to take advantage of the "Active Desktop" feature (or whatever it's called). It's funny, I think the idea is really cool and I really started to like it... except for the fact that I won't see it much, since my main operating system is Linux... ) and the background of the flash animation is not transparent, it's a yucky solid green (which is also strange, because with Mozilla 1.3 on Windows it was working OK). I guess I'll try to fix these problems later, just for fun. I know the wallpaper can't be used as one on any other OS but at least people can open it in a browser and see how it would look. Maybe I'll even throw in the rest of the ideas I had, like having an MP3 player, an option to check if your site is up (maybe pinging it? configurable, of course) and an RSS news feed reader (also configurable, so you'd chose which news feeds to have available).
