Darnell, in the Add Network Wizard are you using "http://"? If so try using "ftp://" instead. WSee if this article helps. h_tp://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/expert/bowman_02march18.mspx

Ok, you can connect to your site that way, its just not something I've used previously. Things I would suggest you look into are your Firewalls, either Windows XP's firewall or a third party firewall. They maybe blocking access to the internet. Also check the Domain, I did a quick check on "mywebsite.com" and it appears to not be one that you own...but you could just be using that as an example. So check your spelling. But the error message says the folder cannot be found so I suspect the firewall or you are not connected to the Internet when trying to login.

I am a little confused by this ... what are you trying to do with "add network"? Your Domain is not a "Network", its a "location" on the Internet which you connect to using different "networks" that connect you to the Internet. You can "log onto" your Domain different ways using different "protocols" such as "ftp" or "http" and use you account user name and password to "login". Usually what we do is use a Web Browser (uses http) and log into cpanel for our accounts and manage our sites from there. Is this where you are having problems?

Ok, as in other things, you take the high and low number out and average the rest. So take my 1 and thow it away so it doesn't sway the results

Do Subdomains Have Separate Dns Addresses?
Madmanmcp replied to FilmBuffRich's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
You cannot point a domain at a subdomain according to the AUP located here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-hosting-aup.html "Your subdomains are allowed to be used for any legal purpose. You may not sell the subdomain space to others, nor may you point other domain names to your subfolders. " -
You should be able to do what you want, but you maybe confused on the proper steps or what the programs actually do. SSH is a program (service) which allows you to physically connect your PC to the server where you web site is located. SmartFTP is a program that allows you to transfer files between your computer and another computer. cPanel is a general purpose program used to perform different tasks (programs) on the Host Server. So, with the proper usernames and passwords etc., you should be able to do the following steps. download files from old host to you PC upload files from your PC to TCH (your website) Now I don't use SmartFTP, but if you are currently using it on the old host it should be all you need cause it will work here on TCH.
-
And it will continue over on your new Web Hosting company. TCH just provides you with space and bandwidth to host your site, the "code" you use is totally your responsibility. Now its probably something simple and if you hang on some of us (TCH members or TCH staff) may come up with a solution for you. We have already given you one fix, just edit the file with a plain text editor and remove the characters. This is a simple task and easily done. I would suspect, after and explanation of your steps, the problem is between the two programs you are using. These web page creation programs are a way for folks with no HTML training to be able to quickly and easily post profesional looking web pages. But in using them they are using characters and codes that are easily recognize by themselves but not by other programs. When you create the page in one, you need to edit it in the same one. When you copy and paste from one into another you are either loosing some important piece of code or bringing some code over that the other program cannot interpret. Sorry you are having a tough time, hang in there and someone may come up with a better solution if you don't like the ones I've given.
-
I looked at the source online and those characters are in the file. To get rid of them you will need to delete them and re-upload the corrected file. I would suggest use use a plain text editor like notepad to delete them. How they got there would be the next question, so you can prevent this from happening again. Those are probably some type of control codes used in one of the programs you used to edit the file before you uploaded. It may have been a typo at some point, you meant to type a capital letter and instead of holding the shiftkey+letter you pressed the ctrl+letter which gave you that code (Â).

For $900 it better cook my breakfast with that picture

I took a look at a couple of reviews...they say its for "backups" and "file storage", storing pictures and printing. If those are "normal" I believe your need to play music files would not fit the "normal" discription. If it will work for you is another question...it might. Reading the sound files and transfering them across the network involve several speedbumps and I'm not sure they will be acceptable. The first bump would be the drive itself, will it read the file fast enough to maintain sound quality. The second speed bump is the drives Ethernet connections speed. From reading the review it mentions that the unit needs to be connected to a hub or router with an ethernet cable...what is the speed and will this affect the sound quality. The third speed bump is your router and its speed, the forth, fifth, etc. bumps will be the network path taken to the final destination of the sound.

If the files are on the USB drive that is connected to the desktop, and you hear the sounds on the laptop speakers or headphones plugged into the laptop...then yes.

Laptop Won't Turn On As Quick As It Used To
Madmanmcp replied to dsbear97's topic in Hardware Corner
Sometimes its just dirt or dust collecting under the buttons. You can purchase cans of compressed air at computer stores and blow it away. -
I also have an HP All-In-One and I can share the Printer and the Fax, nothing else as far as I can see. What makes the scanner difficult is that you need to be at the device to feed in documents.
-
Why do you need these as "external"...if I may ask Sharing drives is a simple task and if you need it easily accessable you can "map" the drives to a specific drive letter and it will be easy to access on all the computers on the network. The printer is also a simple task of just installing as a "Networked printer" and its easily found in the Printer list of the Print Dialog box. The Scanner as previously mention is not possible.

Wireless Pci Adapter Not Connecting

First thing I would do is turn off ALL firewalls including Windows XP Firewall and all antivirus programs. Add a shower, maybe the birds don't have time for a bath Sorry, I couldn't resists.

Jason, I don't believe you want to give one of us access to your account to install a program for you. I also don't believe TCH will want to install a Beta copy of a program for you. But the only way to find out is to submit a help desk ticket and see what they say.
-
Well that was interesting...it couldn't find my house. No matter how I typed in my address it kept telling I typed it in wrong. I think after 12 years I know my correct address.
-
Yes yes and no It hits the TCH Doman Name Server and reads the MX record and goes out, so technically it doesn't reach the shared server you are on.
-
1. you can password protect the directory/folder in cPanel 2. tell the users who need access this password 3. create ftp account for these users and allow access to that directory which will allow them to upload and edited version of the page 4. close the browser or ftp program
-
Horde and Squirrelmail are just the two web based email programs that TCH supplies for our use. You can use any program that supports POP3 or IMAP to download mail and access it on your computer. Outlook and Outlook Express come free with Windows and will work just fine.

I would suspect from your description its not a routing problem but a connection problem which is dropping signals and it is happening between hop 6-7 just by chance. Now the reason maybe difficult and will more than likely not be in your hands. I would start with the cable company and follow THEIR script , do not confuse them with all the information in advance. Start off slow and just tell them you are having connection problems. When they tell you to turn off the computer tell them "btdt", turn off the modem, btdt...you will eventually work their way down the script and get to the point where they will need to send out a tech to your house...IN TWO WEEKS Good luck and hope I am wrong and they can fix you up quicker.
-
are you having "routing" or "connection" problems? These are two separate issue and you use different tools and steps in troubleshooting these problems. A tracert is used for "routing" problems and the program needs a connection to the internet to work. If you have a connection problem and can't connect, you don't use tracert.
-
Well from the 2 tracerts you posted you are reaching your destinations and the times for each hop are not bad. What you are looking for in a tracert is a couple lines that do not complete, looks like... 7 * * * 8 * * * since you are reaching your destination there is not much we can suggest.

What I have set up and what I recommend others do is to use a separate (2nd) power supply/surge protector and connect the cable modem and router to this one. When you have issues with connectivity its a simple matter of flipping one switch and waiting a minute or two and then turning it back on. This covers both possible problem areas and usually works. It also saves on excessive wear and tear on the connectors from being connected and disconnected repeatedly. It also just powers off those two pieces and the PC and monitor and other peripherals remain on. Now a minute or two is alls thats necessary, 15-20 is lot of time and electricity should not take that long to leave from those units. I keep this switch up on the desk for easy access and I don't have to crawl around on the floor or under the desk
