  2. Marie, I don't know if it is helpful, but it is flattering, isn't it? I mean, something that you said resonated with somebody so much that they wanted to share it with somebody that is important to them. Your message also resonated with that person enought that they wanted to share it with others. It reminds me of Peter Wiggin, a character in Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. Peter is beginning his quest to take over the word, and he is explaining to his sister, Valentine, the potential power of their words. Peter realizes that if he can disseminate his ideas so completley that they become common ideas---ideas that common people think are their own---then he will have gained great power. I think you are justifiably upset about this issue, and I'm not saying that you SHOULDN'T be upset, but in a way, it is kind of flattering. I thought that thinking of it in that way might help. My 2 cents (don't know if it was even worth that!!)
  3. Patricia, I've finally had time to go back and take a look at DragonFly CMS, and I'm not finding the calendar module or the chat module in the downloads section. Can you (or somebody else) help point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  4. Don't forget to put exactly what Bruce gave you. You must have the trailing colon, or it won't work correctly (which is a common mistake). Good luck!

  6. Welcome to the forums, peano2; From what I understand, Spam Assassin is the way to go. So if you have questions configuring it, come ask the family. We're here to help!!

  8. Yay! Thanks!! The aunts will think I'm a genious. Really it's all the help from the TCH family forums...
  9. Mine was from the same person as mentioned at the top of this thread. I didn't delete it (just in case). Thanks. Paul
  10. Welcome, Daphne! TCH is awesome. You'll forever be happy you switched!! Welcome to the family!
  11. I got one too. Should we just ignore these? (Is there anything else that can be done?)
  12. Here is a question for your Coppermine users: Let's pretend server space isn't an issue, and that I had the money to purchase more... My end goal is this: users can view images on the site. I'd like the images that they view to be web-friendly (size-wise). But I also want the original digital-camera image to be on the site so users can download it if they want to make prints of the image. Does Coppermine do this well? I've got a bunch of aunts who want me to create a website where they can upload scanned genealogy images to share; they want to allow other family members to be able to print high-quality reproductions. But I don't want to (1) kill my bandwidth while they are just browsing all the images on the site, or (2) have the slow load times associated with large images when users are browsing the site. Suggestions?
  13. Nah. I'm in the book-writing club...
  14. I don't know because Harry Potter 4 is in November. I'll be in line for that one!! I'll also be at the all-night HP 6 book release party on July 15-16!! But, hey! My brother went to a 12:05 showing of SW:III early this morning. I haven't talked to him yet, though.
  15. That is the weirdest thing I've read all week. Do you really believe it works??
  16. I'm also not a huge Star Wars fan. My wife even less so. We'll probably wait for the DVD rental.
  17. Yes! Of Course! (Where ARE my manners??) Welcome to the TCH Forums!! We hope you'll join our family!!
  18. You're welcome. I probably would have tried harder to upgrade without deleting and starting over if I had actually had some content in my forum. As I was just testing it, I didn't try to hard to make it work. Now, hoever, there are 21 topics in my forums, so I would be grumpy if I didn't get it right next time. I think my potential grumpiness would increase with the number of posts in the forums!! Anyway, glad you got it to work.

  20. I'd like to help, but my only experience working with mySQL databases is using the interfaces connected to cPanel. I would recommend that you find a hosting provider (TCH is fantastic!!!) that provides you with better tools to work with your website. But I hope that somebody else can help you with your specific question. Good luck!!

  22. I think I was having the same trouble as you. Check out this thread to see if it helps.
  23. Booby Dippenshorts, checkin' in. I think I'll stick with Paul Pehrson, thanks... (Paul is not my first name; it's my middle name )
  24. Yeah. I encountered the same problem as Thomas; I selected the Imhotep theme, and can't change it now. On another note, I've been blogging since June of last year, and have posted 120+ entries. I give my blog URL in the signature of my emails, but I don't expect that very many people actually read it outside of my family. Why do I write, then? I write because for me, writing in my blog (which has replaced writing in a journal for me) is a way to find order in the events that happen in my life. It is a way for me to find humor in what is going on, and it helps draw me back to to my center--if that makes any sense. Do I care if people read that? To some degree, yes. I wouldn't blog if I didn't want people to read it. If it were all personal, then I wouldn't put it on a blog; or at least my blog would be password protected. But if nobody reads it, it's okay, because for me, it's not about being READ as much as it is about doing the WRITING. And, I think that someday my kids will get a kick out of reading their old man's musings. That would be a good title for a blog: An Old Man's Musings... But hey. I'm only 26. I won't qualify for a while yet. (Incidentally, if you are interested in looking at my blog, it's located here. (A TCH-hosted site) </shameless self promotion>)
  25. Cool. Thanks!! I've wondered if there wasn't a way to make backing up my sites easier. Now I know!
