  1. I finally got it straightened out. I had a simple mis-type in and when I changed it, it went great. Guess I'm overly tired. Thanks for the help.
  2. The message is that the email server cannot be located.
  3. My computer was stolen on a recent trip so I've been busy changing passwords. Got my new computer (laptop) and decided to use OUTLOOK instead of Outlook Express. When I go to put in the info for my email account, it doesn't work. Please help. For sending and recieving email I use "mail.2helpout.net", for my web site. I've changed the passwords so I know the name and passwords are correct. What am I doing wrong. For the account I put the full email name.

  5. HAPPY NEW YEAR! TCH is worth the effort to find. It is the best HOSTING AROUND, bar none. Rock Sign Rock Sign They even help people LEAVE. HA But I'm planning on staying around for awhile.
  6. You might want to CORRECT the info you posted. You tell people it's a "PHOTO POSTING PROGRAM". It's a calendar program. Thought you might want to know the error.
  7. Yep, it's me. I'm a novice but learning. I'll check on that link.
  8. WWW.planscalendar.com is a site that makes available a great calendar program using CSS. Simple to use and not hard to make personal. Worth a look. If you want to see it being used, visit my sons Boy Scout troop website at www.troop312.com/cal/plans.cgi. OF COURSE, hosted through TCH. Where else but the best! Edit TCH-Rob: Just moving to a better forum
  9. Glad to hear about this problem being resolved and worked on to not be a future problem. As one that had mail to AOL people returned saying "it appeared my email was span", I am glad to know what happened. I spent quite a bit of time with AOL myself to see what was going on. They were helpful but said the server had to handle it. YOU OBVIOUSLY DID, and good job. Rock Sign I'm a happy camper again!
  10. AND by not putting in the "exe" file, whereever that came from. This program is great.
  11. Have TRIPLE checked these permissions and that is correct numbers. Plus I looked at the "R-W-X" to confirm with the "plans" configuration. All agree. Did NOT change the configuration on the calendar folder itself. I have uploaded the .exe file that the was given me to upload in "asci" mode. is this correct? Put this file inside the "Calendar" file.
  12. Don, one error in my email to you was that it is a capital C on Calendar, but I get an error message now. www.troop312.com/Calendar/plans.cgi. Happy to provide you with passwords if that will help. But I do want to learn from all this. Already have learned about FTP some and setting permissions. This is good. Also, the FTP program I have is SmartFTP.
  13. How do you "CHANGE PERMISSIONS"? I do feel so ignorant, but I think I'm learning.
  14. I admit TOTAL ignorance. Maybe I'm in over my head. On my site, I've been using calendars that I set up with HTML. I just found a super FREE program available at www.planscalendar.com. It always alot that I've been wanting, but didn't know how to get. My problem, HOW to set it up. I've downloaded it, then opened and uploaded it to my site via FTP. I use FRONTPAGE normally to maintain my site, so doing an FTP was a learning experience. I put the upload where my site info was when I uploaded. Don't know if that was correct or not. I'm Totally lost now. Looked at their "simple"
  15. Thanks for the question and thanks for the reply. JUST LEARNED SOMETHING NEW.
  16. I've got to add that I've had a Belkin for almost a year now, and haven't had this problem once. Guess my equipment "pre-dates" all of this. But I will say that I've been pleased, overall, with the Belkin wireless system, and have gotten GREAT tech suppport when it was needed. Even had a PCMCIA card light go out, on a used card, and they replaced it in days, no questions asked. If fact, they never asked for the old card back! Unusual.
  17. I've definitely GOOFED several times with some other servers. I lost money, lost service, "lost my cool". But since coming to TCH I've been very pleased. Have 4 webs on the servers my self and have helped encourage at least 2 others, that I know of, to sign up with TCH. Price, service and everything I've experienced has been very positive. Even when problems have arisen, the tech staff have been there promptly and courteously. I'm definitely sold. THANKS TCH! Rock Sign
  18. NEAT THING ABOUT TCH is PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO HELP. THANKS TO ALL. TCH is worth it. Wish I'd come here a couple of years ago for my ministry site. Rock Sign Rock Sign
  19. Wondering how to check my own web site so I don't have to go to tech support. I have four sites at TCH and am very happy to date. Tonight, I notice that one site is slow to come up. I have DSL and it is slow. I'm afraid what a 56K modem is like. Getting my outlook to check email is taking FOREVER. It's timing out every time. Has been like this for awhile tonight. site is my sons boy scout troop. www.troop312.com Any suggestions or pointers? Time has now passed and the site appears to be faster. What causes the SLOW DOWNS? How can I check on problems like this myself?
  20. I am attempting to go to my cpanel and can't. I am on the server that the drive was just replaced. See the info that the APACHE was installed. Will I need to re-upload my domains? I have more than one on that server? When can the cpanel be accessed? Just wondering.
  21. Thumbs Up I do believe that TCH is full of super people. I've been getting great ideas and LOADS of help. Thanks to all. Rock Sign
  22. THOUGHTFULLY I am attempting to figure out the "BEST" way to make a video available on a web site. I can "stream it", but am told that will use up band width fast. The video is about 35 minutes, as it is a Boy Scout Court of Honor with some special items in it for the troop to see. Downloading for people would be impractical because of the size of the file. But maybe it is the best way?? Anyone with a suggestion or three?
  23. Adobe Acrobat is one of the easiest methods to make something available online. PLUS it opens it the person does or doesn't have the program used to set up the file. There are methods to make Adobe files on line, if you don't own Adobe Acrobat, although to get the program is the best method I've found. To do it, simply upload the Adobe file to your site and make a link on your page. When the link is clicked, the file will open, OR they can download it. At least it works that way for me. Good luck.
