Welcome to the forum As to speed, does your current host have quad Xeon servers with 2 gig of ram? If the files are yours and downloading them do not take up too much resources it should not be a problem. You can ask about php and mysql in the forums and I am sure our family will try to help.

well I tried a forward and it worked in all three. As it works for horde and neomail for you but not squirrel mail I am lost. I would say try a help desk ticket giving them all the details of the forward and the account forwarded to.

You can use any user name you wish and a different folder name, its up to you.

When you create an ftp user in cpanel select the folder you wish them to have access to. if you let them use the / (public_html folder) they will have access to all your folders and files. Cpanel will create the folder if it does not exist. When you create the account enter a user name like steve enter a password like theblob then change the folder from the default of the user name to somthing like stevesfiles now steve will use ftp.your-tch-domain.ext user steve@your-tch-domain.ext password theblob and his ftp program will take him to the folder stevesfiles and he will not be able to navagate any higher. does that help

Yes you have PhpMyAdmin in cpanel at the bottom of MySql where you create your databases and then use PhpMyAdmin to edit or what ever. You can see some of the sites hosted here by looking at our family sites
