Favicon

Is favicon is support for my web site? I've tried my old favicon from a previous site with not result. I saved a 16x16 .ico file and put it in the root of my site and nothing appear even if a trash my browser cache!

Any help would be welcome.

Favicon works fine for me in the public_html directory or any of my subdomain site directories. Mine's saved as favicon.ico and works great. Do you have a url for what's not working?

My URL is http://www.mozaik.tv

I also put mine in /public_html/

I cant see it either with Safari, Explorer or Opera.

I'm seeing your favicon fine in Firefox. Does IE even display them at all? I've never seen one on mine.

but it took me to the same page as the french button.

Some browsers I don't believe read the favicon until you bookmark the site. I do believe IE uses favicons, though.

I see your icon in Netscape. IE shows favicons when it wants to No, actually, you add your site to favorites, close all windows then open IE again and the icon should appear.

I used IE6 and saw it after saving and reloading

in Firebird, it was there right away.

It works for me in Firefox too. Opera 7.23 works as well (both on winxp).

In IE...

The favicon.ico file is not shown until you bookmark (add to favorites). Then it is visible in the Favorites list. Clicking on this bookmark will then show the icon in the address bar.

Once the cookie expires, or you blow out the cache, the icon will be gone until you re-add the site to the favorites or resyncrhonize bookmarks (this will typically happen within a few seconds of viewing the bookmarked page).

 

And the English version is not showing up for me either.

sometimes IE does show it in the address bar. It displays find in all mozillas !

it is finally working! I just "reinitialized" Safari and my favicon is now appearing! As for Mac version of IE the favicon are not support at all.

My bookmarked favicons deletes themselves in I.E when i reboot for some weird reason.

That's odd. I'm running Safari on Mac OS X and it showed up immediately for me. I didn't have to bookmark the site or anything.

 

Also works for the Mozilla variants (Mozilla, Camino, Firefox), Netscape, and Opera.

 

Doesn't work for IE or OmniWeb (at least the version I have, haven't updated that one in awhile). I don't consider IE on the Mac a real browser anymore though.
