Head Guru Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 Servername will be localhost DB name will be in this format cpanelusername_dbname Username is also the same format You need to set up a DB in your cpanel. Quote
KevinW Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 Lebleu, You can find out this information in a couple of ways: 1. Access your CPanel, and it gives you version numbers of various modules. 2. Alternately you could upload two different standard scripts (env.pl or phpinfo.php) that gives you a whole host of information. I happen to have zipped copies of both of these scripts on my web site available for downloading. Go to: http://tch.kwsupport.com/id58.htm HTH, Kw Quote

VIsit http://www.wiredgamerz.com/phpBB2/ to visit it. But last question is how to i make my forum show up on my main domain and get rid of the files there aswell as this subdomain Quote
KevinW Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 Glad you are working .... thoise invalid passwords can be a bummer!!!! :-) kw Quote
TCH-JimE Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 As far as I know, it will always be like that as PHPBB needs a folder to store itself in. I put mine in a sub domain called forum, so now my url for reaching the forum is forum.mydotcomname.com I suppose you could use a frameset to get around it Jim Quote
Lebleu Posted February 5, 2003 Author Posted February 5, 2003 i just put a simple index linking to the forum. Anyone who would like to stop by its www.wiredgamerz.com Quote
wiccan1 Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 I need help with this also lol I am trying to install a program called "Linkup" for organizing and adding links to my site. I got everything uploaded fine and all the permissions set. When i run the setup.php file it ask for the following: #1. My Sql Database host: #2. Name of your Mysql Database: #3. My Database username: #4. My Database Password: #5. Prefix of all tables: This is what i have so far: #1. localhost #2. myusername_linkup - in the Add DB box of cpanel #3. myusername - in the Username Box of cpanel #4. mypassword - in the My Password box of cpanel #5. Don't know what to put here!!!!! I am very new to the php/mysql thingy. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this subject!!! Quote
rayners Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 The prefix is only necessary if you need to run more than one seperate version of the software in the same database. It should be unnecessary. Quote

rayners Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 There's a number of software packages that come with that option now. I guess that's because a number of other hosts limit you to only one database. Quote
