Hi.

Just decided that I need a bulletin board and have found that setting it up was fairly easy and straight forward. Howvere, I am having a problem logging into it. I enter my username (as the administrator it's my cpanel name and login by default) but every time I try to log in it thinks for a little while then sends me to an error page (the standard "Cannot Find Server" error page) which has this address http://www.buickstreet.com/forum/login.php...aa00929b97f214b .

If I press my back button it will take me back to the forum but I see that I'm not logged in but if I refresh the page then I find that I have in fact been logged in. This happens both at work (behind a firewall) and at home (no firewall) and happens every time without fail.

Any ideas why this might be happening? I'd like to fix it before I go live with this forum.

Thanks.

Hmm.. I'm no phpBB expert (but I'm sure somebody here is!) If I were you, I'd go take a visit at phpbb.com and see what you could find poking around in their support and faqs. Good luck!

Well...I registered, and then tried to log in. I got the "buickstreet not found" error message as well. I'm wondering if that isn't something in your configuration file. It doesn't seem to be pointing to a domain.. IE: buickstreet.com but rather to just "buickstreet". I'm not really familiar with that board or I could probably be of more help....

Best of luck to ya... I know probs like that can drive ya crazy...

Hi,

I use phpBB and found this originally too. What I suggest you do, is to clear out the folder, and delete the database. Then download the current edition from phpBB and upload it. If you dont feel confident about doing this, please PM me and I shall do it for you. (sub note, not available fri, sat, sun)

did you use the auto install from cpanel? and does it automatically delete the /install and /contrib folders? if it doesnt delete those tat will cause a loop,

also it might be a cookie issue, with phpmyadmin go to your forum database (if it was an autoinstall it will be something like username_xmb) find the phpbb_config table and in that table find the cookie_domain entry.

The cookie_domain needs to have just .domainname.com (that first period isnt a typo) not www.domainname.com.

thats the two most common reasons for the loop

the cookie path is ok as just / if you change it more than likely cookies wont work at all (i speak from exp. :D )

guess I should have looked at the forum and i would have seen it isnt phpbb, I'll do some more looking today.
