Where can I find tutorials for "Fantastico"?

and I mean the great list that is contained in Fantastico...

all I got up to now is a list of errors :goof:

Welcome to the forum, gilk. :goof:

What kind of errors do you get?

What kind of tutorials do you want?

Usually with all the installers in Fantastico, you should only need to click the install link for the script you want installed and follow the instructions and the script are installed are in its own folder.

Welcome to the forums gilk. :goof:

Along with following the instructions while installing there is always a link to the script author's site where you can find more information and help forums for a particular script.

Welcome to the forums! Fantastico is basically a bunch of installers for the applications there. I've found most tutorials for those programs by either going to the author's site (as Bruce suggested) or by doing a google search. If you can provide us with specifics, someone will surely have a link to give you to the tutorial.

If, when you are opening the link to Fantastico, you see a bunch of errors instead of scripts to install, you probably need to contact the help desk and have them take a look at the problem.

Thank you all, for sparing the time and trying to help.

My question was in general.

I've just seen the Fantastico, and it looks like some well of wealth :-)

tried one (PHPproject), and didn't get any results.

I was wondering what program to choose out of a few under each category.

It would be a good idea, to add a link next to each program, just to shortcut the search procedure...

after all, you all did it, so way go and do it a few more hundred of times?

I installed Gallery via fantastico, and it was fantastic!

I started uploading pictures, and it was fine.

I tried to view them - NADA! broken links.

I found Gallery's help site, and found in the FAQs the exact problem: "I can successfully upload photos, but when I look in my album all I see are broken image icons. Why?"

the answer was: "You've specified an incorrect path to your albums directory in the config wizard. You can fix this by re-running the Configuration Wizard and correcting the Albums URL value."

as I understand it - the problem most be the fantastico script running the installation?!?!

please advise... :D

TIA

Gil

I also tried running on the "system maintenance"

"Build all thumbnails/resizes"

and got:

_____________________________________

- Build all thumbnails/resizes Tue 04 Jul 2006 04:38:02 AM EDT

Success

run now

Ensure data files for all derivatives (thumbnails, etc) have been built and rebuild broken ones.

Last Run Details:

Checked 17 items

17 items built

17 items failed

it said: Success, and it said 17 items failed...

If the Fantastico installation is failing, you could open a ticket with the support people.

In the meantime, you could download the latest Gallery version from gallery.menalto.com. This is recommended since the Fantastico installation does not have the latest version. Manually installing is pretty straightforward, and will alert you to any problems as you go.

Fantastico is not something TCH put together it's a package that TCH has added to your account for your use.

If you select one of the scripts provided in Fantastico there is a link on the right that will take you to the author's site where you can find more information.

Gilk when you click on each of the fantastico items you get a box in the righthand side. In there is a link to the site that is for the script so you can get further info for them. Don't install the scripts in the route directory. You are installing Gallery, install it in a directory that is gallery, make sure you keep everything in lower case as well.

I have installed all the scripts from fantastico and installed them individually into their own directories which worked well and without any errors. That way I could keep track of the directories for uninstalling as well.

How many databases does your hosting package allow for you, maybe that is a conflict you are having with the gallery software. Also do use spaces in your naming as well, you can use _ to seperate words. Try not to use common naming either as that conflict with paths etc as well.

I'm not limited to # of DBs, so that's not the problem

I didn't install a thing, only hit the link saying "install", and gave it a directory name "gallery_g".

all lower case, no spaces.

... maybe I'll delete it all and try to re-install it...?

I would suggesting that you delete the current installation and try to reinstall it, but this time, try with a foldername without the underscore, like "gallery" and see if that works. I don´t know if the underscore is the problem, but its worth a try.

If it still don´t work, open a ticket and ask the techs if there are any problems with Fantastico etc on your server. Link on top of page and in my signature.

Actually this is pretty simple to solve. The reason you have this problem is that gallery uses imaging scripts like GD and Imagemagik to show the pictures and generate thumbnails. I am guessing that the basic install of gallery defaults to imagemagik which we do have here at TCH but you will need to configure it.

So to fix this, log in as administrator, go to site admin and then look on the left hand side. You will see "toolkit priority". Move GD to the top and then goto "site maintaince" and choose to "build all thumbnails".

Then logout and it should all be ok. If not, get back to me

I went to the link in the file you attached, and what I saw were the photos you uploaded...no broken links. When you reinstalled Gallery, did you use Fantastico, or did you delete everything and download the latest version and install from that?
