flashram Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 I have in the past couple of days, been unable to view the source code of a webpage in Internet Explorer 6 by clicking View Source on the menue. All my defaults seem OK and updates are done, don't understand this problem. Has anyone got any suggestions at all regarding this. This is a major headache when looking at webpages and getting ideas on how something is done for webdesign and problem solving. Regards Peter Quote

flashram Posted May 14, 2003 Author Posted May 14, 2003 Thanks for the Heads up but that didn't work. I have tried all that previously, but did try it again, even deleted IE and reinstalled it, but still the same. I am running Windows 2000 by the way and most of the info relates to Win NT, WinME and Win98. Any other suggestions would be helpful. The funny thing is, it has only just happened in the past few days. Quote

flashram Posted May 14, 2003 Author Posted May 14, 2003 Thanks everyone, and Guru, if I wasn't locked into so much invested into Microsoft PC and other compatible software I probably would head down the Mac side. I also understood the IMac suggestion was a Joke, got it the first time. I eventually found the support newsgroups and after looking through all the recent replies came across the simple answer to the problem. Basically Don't have a shortcut to Notepad on your desktop named Notepad make sure it is named something else like Notepad2, that way the View Source Code works, tried it just now and instantainously fixed. All that for the past few days for something so simple. You would think that Microsoft would have put that in the Knowledge base by now, seems to have been an on going problems for a long time, by the sound of the replies in the newsgroups. Quote
