Sheesh,

It is 10:00PM here and it is still 104 degrees, thats 40 for you metric people. I am thinking of installing an automobile cooling system in my bed so I can get a little sleep without waking in a pool each morning. At least my reptiles are enjoying it.

What do you guys do to deal with your summer heat?

This place continues to amaze me. Our monsoons are a few weeks away yet we just had a storm blow through. 104, high winds and rain. That means when tomorrow hits 111 all that water will evaporate. Any ideas what that means?

Hope it does well for all the fires in the state being fought right now.

Yeah...but it's a dry heat, right? ;) Central and south Florida has been swimming as of late. I get to play in it starting today. Oh joy. :) (And they call this the "Sunshine State".)

Yep, swimming in south La. also. 95-96 degrees with 95% humidity gives a heat index of about 110. Until the crew gets decking on the buildings we have no shade to help. The closest tree is about 2 blocks away. All the heat being reflected back by the concrete makes it even hotter.

Brrrrr .... it was 62 in the house this AM! We have a fan that pulls in and circulates the air from outside during the night. It must have gotten COLD last night for it to be 62 this AM.

But it will warm up without issue I am sure.

I've been running the AC 24 hrs. a day since May :) Walk the dog first thing, that's for sure. This is my first year in Texas but so far we're surviving. I work outside in short bursts, then cool off inside. Maybe I should take up golf if it makes you not feel the heat ;)

It's been storming here for a few days, off and on, in Key West. The bad thing is that the storms are always short-lived and then the sun evaporates the water and it puts the humidity thru the roof.

We have AC at work (computers and all) but at home we've only had the AC on for about 2 weeks and cut it back off about 2 weeks ago. We have fans in almost every room and it's still breezy most of the time so it's not too bad.

If I worked from home (in the heat) I'd use the Latin America approach - siesta during the hot part of the day.

Of course, the temps aren't too bad here -- just always the same -- 75-88 recently. I miss getting up in the brisk cool morning mountain air and waiting for the day to warm up when I was in Kentucky but I sure don't miss the snow.

Don, you are a sick, sick man. :)

90s here for the next several days and I hate it! I only go outside if I absolutely have to. We turn on our a/c when it starts getting over 80 during the day and always have at least 2 ceiling fans and 2 other fans going.

The only plus to this nasty weather is that my eight tomato plants are doing very well, but our lack of rain means I have to get out every other night at least to water.

Alaska sounds nice about now. As to it being a dry heat, I say hot is hot. I spent a few years in Louisiana, even though it is hot and humid, I somehow remember it not being as bad. Maybe it is the 18 years here or that I am older now and cant take the extremes I could then.

Most of you have a cooling spell in the evenings. To experience Arizona summers if you have not been here all you have to do it turn your oven on and crawl in for eight months. :clapping: That should give you an idea, and don't forget to close the door.

I've lived in the Tropics and what happens is you get used to it. I think it's harder when you have cold winters and then hot summers, you're just getting used to the hot weather when it gets cold on you! I'm about to leave for a family reunion in Northern California and I'm packing lots of warm clothes...I'll bet I get cold in that cooler weather :clapping:
