In the sense of "Is such a thing possible in the world of the internet?" the answer would be "yes, it is."

If you mean "Can I do this here at TCH?" the answer is almost certainly "no, you can't." Matter of fact, if you wanted to do that you'd almost have to get your very own web and DNS servers, or at least rent a dedicated server from somebody.

I just tried to do it on my account and it didn't work. You can add the subdomain of the subdomain via CPanel, but it doesnt work. for instance:

I set up doe.dozure.net and it worked fine.

I then added john.doe.dozure.net and it added it in CPanel, but when I try to access it via a browser, I get 'we couldnt find john.doe.dozure.net

IMO, a subdomain of a subdomain simply invalidates the whole reason for using a subdomain.

On the other hand, if you wish to split your site up into separate subdirectories for easier maintenance, etc. - that you can do it.

Seems to me that a URL of www.mysite.com/vacations/2003/ makes more sense that a URL of vacations.2003.mysite.com.

Having chatted with you via IM I know this is not a big issue with you but the topic comes up at times and is worth clarifying. You can accomplish the organizational structure by using a couple of methods.

Using KW's example, you could combine subdomains and directories with something like vacations.mysite.com/2003 if you wanted all the vacations to be a division off your site.

You could also use different, similar, subdomains such as 2003-vacations.mysite.com and 2002-vacations.mysite.com.

heh - yea it was just a random thought that popped into my head. i don't need it necessarily, but just thought it would be a cool way to navigate a site.
