TCH-Thomas Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Lots of us in the TCH family are from places where the daylight saving time stops (for this time) this weekend. If you are one of those, don´t forget to set your clocks, so you don´t miss anything! If you don´t know if you are affeced, please see http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst2004b.html Quote
Santolina Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Thanks for the link and the reminder, Thomas , not that I particularly like it to be dark at 5PM and dark at 7AM. But what the heck, in just 2 more months the days will be getting longer again! -- Santolina Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Yea! I get an extra hour of sleep Anyone know how I can tell the kittens about this Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 Let them stay up longer tonight? Quote
boxturt Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 On a related note....... PLEASE replace the battery in your smoke / fire detectors. Quote
Samrc Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 And if you have any scripts on your site that display the time at YOUR location instead of the time at the visitor's location, that script will also need to be updated. (Example, at the bottom of my home page it gives the time in Orlando Florida, regardless of where the visitor is from - That script will have to wait until I am home to update it). My kitties have an internal clock that is NOT related to our time. Have yet to find a way to reset it. At least in the spring, I get the sleepy eyed look from my critters when I spring forward and have to wake up an hour earlier. They look at me like what are you doing up? Are you feeling ok???? -Samantha Quote
boxturt Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 Yes Rob. It is time to put away the spring / summer timepieces; mantleclocks, wristwatches, eggtimers and replace them with the fall/winter line Quote
AlanV Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 That was weird... Woke up this morning to a bright and sunny outside. Apparently, my alarm clock adjusts itself to DST. It's even weirder because I'm from Arizona, and Arizona doesn't do DST (we have our own time zone because of it... check your Windows' time and date control panel!) Quote
Samrc Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 My mother doesn't bother to change her clock in the car or kitchen. They are right 1/2 the year and knows mentally to adjust the other 1/2. That's fine for her, but everyone else has paniced because they forget her method and believe they are running an hour late! -Samantha Quote
Madmanmcp Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Just wanted to piggyback a question. Is this server going to have the time changed? Being on the eastcoast I am used to looking at the time on the posts and having them match the time on my PC. As I look at other posts today I see I am typing an hour in the future and I am not used to that BoB at 11:27AM Quote
TCH-Don Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Bob, I just went to my contorls > board settings and unchecked Is daylight savings time in effect? to get the time back on track. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Thanks Don, didn't know that was there . BoB at 12:06PM Quote
jslagle Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 I Thought it would be automatic. Same here, I assumed it would be automatic. I just changed my profile to the winter setting Quote
TCH-Don Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 LOL one more clock to remember to change Quote
