youneverknow Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 There is a new search engine that is going to go head to head with google, msn and yahoo. They have a novel approach...members will be able to vote on the results and thus be more relevent to other seachers. They are now taking web site submissions here: https://www.anoox.com/submit_website.jsp We shall see if their idea works.....go to there web sites and read for yourself Anoox.com youneverknow PS: any profits gained by them will be shared with their members!!! TCH-Dick Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 That's interesting... So is this... Anoox Search Engine Submission Terms of Use 2. Anoox Search Engine Submission b. If your web site has content within a password protected area within your web site you must provide Anoox a username and password as part of the registration form. The username and password must be valid for the duration of your web site's inclusion in Anoox Search Engine results and will be used by Anoox only to evaluate whether your web site continues to maintain the minimum criteria as detailed in this Terms of Use Quote
DarqFlare Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 That's interesting... So is this... Anoox Search Engine Submission Terms of Use 2. Anoox Search Engine Submission b. The username and password must be valid for the duration of your web site's inclusion in Anoox Search Engine results and will be used by Anoox only to evaluate whether your web site continues to maintain the minimum criteria as detailed in this Terms of Use It says content... Meaning, things that you want searched by Anoox. There's a few password-protected parts to OMGN that contain 0 content, so why would I want them crawled? That being said, that spooks me... Oh well. So much for a good idea. Quote
Deverill Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 I dunno, Robert. I take that ("content") as any data whether for public use or not. Why would anyone want to password protect data for public consumption? By that question we can assume anything password protected is not content under your interpretation. It's truly scary thought that they are even asking for passwords. Now, to effectiveness. Instead of paying Adwords $40/month I could pay you guys $5.00 per 100 votes for my site. That would be 800 votes for my site instead of a dozen impressions on the side of who-know's site. Sounds like a winner to me. If I farm it out to some poor farm family in Guilder I can get them to do it for $0.05 per 100 votes and make them rich and get 80,000 votes for my site. I really think they will be innundated with fake votes and their system will fall apart... but any competition is good! Quote
Deverill Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Gotta agree with Jim on this one. Don't sound so pained by it. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Heck Jim, it is the only right answer I have given in a while. Just happy to have anything be correct. Quote
