It has been a long time since I set up gmail to work with a domain (so I can be completely wrong), but I think the help desk needs to do some magic (eg change a setting) to make this work, so please submit a ticket and the techs will look into it.

Yes and no, it depends on which hosting plan you have. If you are on shared hosting both domains must point to the same content. However, if you have a reseller account this is possible. -

If I understand your question correct, you should be able to fix this using the "Php select" option in your cpanel.
