If you are using the shared install of Squirrel Mail or Horde I don´t think you can install plugins on your own, but why not ask the users to go to example.net/webmail and change their passwords there? Replace example.net with your domain name.

If your other host have cPanel you could see if you have a "backup" section, in there look for "mysql".

It should be ftp.yourdomain_name.com (i.e ftp.example.net). Perhaps the techs did some of their magic. The reason I say this is that I too use cute ftp and entering ftp.example... works for me. Anyway, I am glad that it works.

Welcome to the forum, Alcinoo. Did the error come after an upgrade of your SMF or was no upgrade involved and it just broke? I would as Bruce says check line 2, if that doesn´t solve it, check the offical SMF forum and if that doesn´t solve it, reopen the ticket.

To see something else than those directories you mention, an upload of a new index.htm file should do the trick. It can be a blank page or with what ever text you choose as long it is called index.htm and uploaded to the public_html directory. The preferred way to upload files to your webspace is either with an ftp program or through cPanels file manager and not fantastico. Fantastico is only a library of webinstallers for differennt scripts such as the SMF forum and a lot of others. Fantastico itself can not upload or install any other files than those it have in the library. The preferred directory for a forum is up to you, but I would personally put it in a subfolder and not directly in the public_html if my forum is not supposed to be public right away.
