I"m sorry...I'm now officially stuck too! Many of your family members have given you many links to documentation and suggestions on how to do this, and none appear not to have worked. I don't know what else to tell you other than to download a FREE FTP program and use that. Last night, I created a web site on my computer using my version of FP 2000, and uploaded it successfully to my test site using the instructions verbatum that I copied for you (above) from my book. It worked just fine without any problems exactly like the book said. If you want to download SmartFTP, you can find a link here. Then it's just a matter of drag & drop from your computer to the server. (IMHO...it's as easy as using FP's system.) Note: I just re-read an earlier post. You should not be checking the "secure server" box.
  2. Open up a help desk ticket (link above). For the password, put "unknown", and fully explain the situation in the message box. They'll hook you right up.

Go to cPanel, uninstall and reinstall the FP extensions. That's one of the reasons I stopped using FP...the extensions just quit every once in a while. Then try the http:... again. If you want to try FTP, simply change the http://..... to ftp://www.mysite.com and according to my book, it should work the same.

OK...since you say that you have your website on your computer, I'm going to assume here that you already have it open in FP. Copied from "Special Edition: Using Microsoft FrontPage 2000" by QUE books: "When you are ready to publish to a server, select Publish Web from the File menu. This brings up the Publish Web dialog box, which you can extend by clicking the Options button." "The most important area of this dialog box is the location field, formally called Specify the Location to Publish Your Web To. Here you can specify either an HTTP address, an FTP address, or a local or networked hard disk location." "When this dialog box opens, the location field shows only http://. If you want to publish to an HTTP location, you need only fill in the rest of the address and click the Publish button. FrontPage will start the transfer process." "If you are attempting to publish to an existing web directory, FrontPage will warn you if you're about to overwrite a file with the same filename as the file currently uploading. Do You Want to Overwrite This File? appears in such a case, telling you the filename, the web directory in which the overwrite is taking place, and the date of the last modification of the original file as well as the username of the person who modified it. The publishing process stops if you click No, with no files having been transferred. If you click Yes (or Yes to All), the file is replaced." "FrontPage also warns you if you are about to replace the existing web's navigation structure. If you click Yes, you're presented with the Publishing Web Structure dialog box, which give you three choices. The first, Do Not Replace the Navigation Structure of the Destination Web, publishes your files but leaves the existing navigation structure in place. The second, Replace the Navigational Structure of the Destination Web, does exactly what it indicates. The third, Let FrontPage Merge the Changes, replaces the navigation structure but replaces the changes made by another author only if the file you're uploading is newer than the existing file." (The preceding quoted from "Special Edition: Using Microsoft FrontPage 2000" by QUE books.) Additional note: Even tho the tutorial found here is using FrontPage 2002, I went through it (stopping it using the control bar at the bottom of the screen) and the concept is nearly identical. Hope all this can help you. What is the URL of your site?

Instant Messaging. (In my case, through either Yahoo or AOL Instant Messager using the buttons below my signature.)

Is the site you're editing located on the hard drive of YOUR computer or is it already on your website hosted with TCH? Do you have a URL for your site? While I'm at it, do you have IM capability? You can send me an IM using one of the icons below.

I understand your frustration. It appears you have bitten off more than you can chew. However, I have gotten out my trusty "Special Edition: Using Microsoft FrontPage 2000" book, so give your head a short break while I do some research. (Besides...it'll give you a bad headache! ) Is it safe to assume that you have created a web site and have it stored on your hard drive?

Mae...doing research on your issue. Will post when I come up with solution.
  9. Welcome to the forums. Is this something you are doing yourself or is it a software package? Have you checked out any of the software found here?
  10. yep...(that was the first thing I thought of). You can open squirrelmail, but can you receive or send anything? Andy...I'll open a ticket in a while. (Got a few things to do on the "Honey-do" list this morning!). Thanks.
  11. Using the sample code found here, (making the stated modification of course), I was able to successfully log into squirrelmail. However, after sending a test email, no message was ever received, which makes me think that I was logged into the wrong mailbox. When I changed the "serverxx..." to my website, I received the following errors: (website edited out) >Warning: Unknown(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/src/redirect.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/mywebsite:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Unknown(/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/src/redirect.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Unknown(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/src/redirect.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/mywebsite:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Unknown(/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/src/redirect.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0 Warning: (null)(): Failed opening '/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/src/redirect.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line 0 I know I could use either Horde or NeoMail, but I'd prefer SquirrelMail. Not being a scripting expert, what, if anything, am I doing wrong? (I've got an idea, but I was hoping one of the scripting "experts" could verify it for me!) BTW...I would also like to be able to send the login information a bit more securely if that's possible. (Of course I could just do things the easy way and have my customers use Micro$oft Outlook Express! ) TIA.
  12. Welcome to the forums. Thomas answered most of your questions, but I just wanted to chime in to tell you that, while TCH does make backups, it is ultimately the responsibility of the end user (you) to have current backups in the rare and unforseen event something happens. (Plus it's just good practice! ) If you wanted to leave TCH (why you would want to do that, I don't know!), as long as the host has MySql support and you have a current backup of your board, it shouldn't be a problem.
  13. Welcome to the forums!
  14. Welcome to the forums.
  15. You are correct.
  16. I'd start with a ticket to the help desk and explain to them what you're wanting to do. The "Super-Techs" there will guide you in the right direction.
  17. What FTP program are you using?
  18. I would second Thomas' suggestion...make sure your computer is clean first. Norton (and even Micro$oft Antispyware) shouldn't complain on an FTP session.
  19. bigshew...groovyfish is correct. "Mailit.php" is from the Ultimate Form Mail script. If you go to h*tp://www.surefirewebdesign.com/scripts/, there is a link towards the bottom of the page for their forum. I'm sure you'll find the answer there. At first glance, it appears that there might be something wrong with that particular file.
  20. Welcome to the forums! I hope you make your decision to join the "family"!
  21. What Jim said. Seriously, take the time to read some of the documentation...it will save you MANY headaches in the long run. (Experience speaking here!) Then, start out simply. Try to publish a page that has just a couple of lines of text in it, just to get the feel of things. Once you can get that, then slowly add more text and maybe a graphic or two. Eventually, you'll be like the rest of us! Just remember...take it slow. Like someone once told me: "You need to learn to crawl before you can run marathons."
  22. Yeah...but it's a dry heat, right? Central and south Florida has been swimming as of late. I get to play in it starting today. Oh joy. (And they call this the "Sunshine State".)
  23. wolvesb: FWIW...One program I've found (recommended by several family members here) is Xampp. It's basically a whole Apache server complete with PHP that you can store on a CD or on a USB memory stick. It's excellent for learning PHP (or other programming) without hosing up your site or a server. (Plus it doesn't affect your bandwidth on your site, either!) Just do a google search and you'll find it. Just my $.02 worth!
  24. First of all, welcome to the family! You should take this one step at a time. First, read the email you received carefully. Next, read the FP tutorials carefully. Then, publish just an index page so you can get a feel for how things go and what to do. Patience is a virtue when dealing with Internet issues. BTW...Propagation of your site name could take as few as 2 hours or as long as 72. Lastly, if you are still totally lost, feel free to post again. Since I have FP2K installed, I might be able to help you. There are also several family members who I would consider "Microsoft Experts" and they will chime in as well. One more thing to remember, when submitting something to the help desk or asking for help here, give as much information about the problem as you can (source code, description, etc.) It makes things a lot easier to troubleshoot than by simply saying "It don't work." We're a big family here with lots of experience and advice to give! Welcome aboard!
