Ok I found this method on the net last night and have now incorported it into Lazarus Guestbook. Basically I reverse the email address (ie spam@microsoft.com becomes moc.tfosorcim@maps) then put it in a span like so: ><span style="unicode-bidi: bidi-override;direction: rtl;">moc.tfosorcim@maps</span> I also convert the email address into ascii but thats just an extra level.

At this point I just wish to add that I have noticed times when my site has been extremely slow. Last night it went down, admittedly only for about five minutes. As to Helpbytes he is currently using some spare web space I have on another host. TCH-Thomas edited out hosts name. There is no reason to mention other hosts.

As I have already told two other people via PM you need to update from 2.3.1 to either 2.3.3 or Lazarus. 2.3.1 has 2 documented exploits that 2.3.3 and Lazarus patch. As to stopping spam take a look at the Advanced Guestbook forum on http://proxy2.de Ignore the anti spam comments as I see you are using my image verification mod.
-
You could try Advanced Poll from http://proxy2.de but I've never used it myself. I was hoping there might of been some on http://opensourcecms.com/ for you to try but unfortunately not. Still it's a good site to know for forums etc.

The image verification works well but is not that well integrated into the guestbook. I have written a number of anti spam modifications for Advanced Guestbook with the most successful being the human verification. You can find all the mods I wrote on the Advanced Guestbook forum at http://proxy2.de or have a look at Lazarus which has them built in (not the image verification though). Oh and you will also find my mod to make AG store the IP address and not the hostname there as well. Again this is an option in Lazarus

Kudos to Google though. They know that to make money they have to get their name and adverts to as wide an audience as possible. But instead of the usual routes they seem to have sat down and thought about what people actually want. They also make sure their products are stable and solid. BUT at the same time (with Gmail and Gtalk anyway) they have made it so you don't have to see their adverts or use their program to benefit from their products. You can use Gmail with any POP/SMTP client and any messenger with Jabber support can connect to Gtalk (although none support voice yet but I'd say give it a week).
-
Take a look at the other messengers. They already incorporate most of these and to be honest does anyone ever use them? Yahoo even has a internet radio built into it. Th emain advantage Google has over Skype and the others is that it is using open source protocols. If you take a look at the Jabber protocol there is already a plethora of programs out there that use it because there is little hard work involved unlike Yahoo and MSN where you have to figure out how the protocol works. So the question is this. If Google is intending on putting adverts etc into Gtalk why would it use open source protocols therefore guaranteeing that people will write programs that can connect to Gtalk?

Isn't 4images the one that stole nearly all of it's code from phpBB? As for the problem I'd follow Don's sugestion of selecting GD on install then if it installs ok try switching to Imagemagick. Is this a problem with the server though or just a problem with the script? Does the script have support for Imagemagick?

That means that the script needs to be the very first thing on the page before any HTML or any other scripts. -
Help Need To Connect To Mysql Within An Array.

Your array is correct but it is saying some of the information you supplied is wrong. -
There is a plethora of multiple messenger programs out there (Trillian, Gaim, Miranda, Beenut, IM2 etc) and most support Jabber. Whilst this means you can connect and send IM's to your friends on the Google Talk network you will not be able to use voice with them as nobody else is using the voice protocol that Google is using.

Help Need To Connect To Mysql Within An Array.

The array format is correct but I would have to see the actual script that connects to be able to help more. Possibly a file called sql.class.php -
Yes but then Trillian does not support Google Talk voice yet That and you have to pay to actually use the voice/plugin features of Trillian and I believe that you can only use Jabber as a plugin. Still if AIM and Yahoo both agree to use interoperable voice with Google then it could be the start of the long rumoured interoperaability. For those that don't know the American goverment doing it's usual WE RULE THE WORLD routine told the major IM makers that their clients need to be interoperable with each other. This is why if you ever read the registry for Yahoo messenger you see some references to AIM. I don't know if this order from on high is still in effect as it was a few years ago that this rumour came to my ears.
-
YET but I guarantee there will be eventually. Possibly ads at the bottom like in MSN 7.
-
Personally I prefer IM's to voice as I sound more intelligent when I'm typing. Always nice to be able to stop, read what you put then change it unlike speech where once it's out it's out.
-
I'm sure somebody is making one as we speak. I mean somebody has already made a Google Talk skin for Trillian.

My choice would be split between Don and Thomas as these are the only two I have had non forum related conversations with. That and some of the others have seriously annoyed me by locking threads where they either didn't agree, or didn't like, what the person posting was saying. This includes one reseller who was annoyed at TC sending emails direct to his clients thereby negating his role as reseller. That and I'm not overly keen on all the "Welcome to the forums" posts. I mean you have a problem so you sign up to a forum to get help. You make your post then get 10 emails saying you have had a reply so you think great my problem is solved. Except it isn't, just lots of welcome posts. Anyway time to find a coin to help me decide between Don and Thomas.

I was playing with it with a programmer I know. It's very basic at present. Plain text messaging with no formatting except it turns certain smiley codes blue but no smileys. Voice is clear but apart from Mute you have no control over it. The thing about Google is they make sure they have a solid base to build from before they move onto the next steps. Google is apparently in talk with other messengers such as Yahoo and AIM about interoperability of voice. Not that Skype are running scared but Skype is said to be releasing it's IM code (a lesser known feature of Skype) to businesses to incorporate into their sites/software.

waits for people to start having Google Talk icons.....

Visit http://proxy2.de and download Advanced Guestbook 2.3.3 from there and then simply replace ALL your files EXCEPT admin/config.inc.php. Or download Lazarus
-
This is only the same as how MSN messenger works.
-
From the look of it Google talk is just a jabber client with voice. I ve had a jabber account for over a year but nobody seems to use it :| As I already use trillian pro I don't need to download Google Talk according to the website - http://www.google.com/talk/otherclients.html

Well Yahoo does also offer PC to landline but at a cost as well as SMS messaging, again at a cost.
-
I highly doubt that skype lets you make PC to landline calls for free except maybe in the states and Yahoo did that years ago back in 2000.
-
Yahoo's latest messenger, 7, now does PC to PC phone calls. In fact Yahoo has had voice for a long time and all the other networks now support voice as well. Whats the difference between using Skype to talk to another person over the internet and using a messenger? Nothing as far as I can see.
