  1. I am the one who maintains our hosting account for our company, thus creating e-mail accounts & forwarders for various aliases. OK, here's the problem: Let's say I have a forwarder called office@domain.net that goes to everybody in the office. This works great, except I keep getting requests from people to have the list of people receiving the messages show up in their TO: or CC: fields once they type in the name of the alias. I've explained a number of times why this can't happen, but apparently this is unacceptable to them. So, does anybody have any ideas or alternate suggestions? I don't consider each person keeping their own aliases up to date an acceptable solution because people would immediately forget to update their local lists and somebody will miss an important message. Thanks!
  2. Mav, Wasn't asking, just commenting.
  3. Today, all of us at the office that use Mozilla for e-mail started getting an error that said that the certificate had changed, and were unable to send e-mail until we changed the outgoing mail server to never use SSL. Any idea what changed?
  4. hmmm, it doesn't recognize Opera! You are You are running on...
  5. Phew, I'd never learn anything that way!
  6. Is there an easier way to edit e-mail forwards than using the web interface? Maybe by editing a file in my account or something? Thanks!
  7. 8. Has anybody noticed that those 15+3 new emoticons are making the posting page 15 miles long?
  9. neat subtracting machine iffy, it's helpful to know that a + NaN = 15
  10. 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 x 15 = 437,893,890,380,859,375
  11. Using smtpsend here in a locally executed script we were unable to send e-mails from a non-existant address. Once I added a forward from the non-existant address to a real address everything worked fine. This happened twice, both times the sam solution fixed the problem.
  12. it can run linuX!
  13. Ah ha! Lucky guy! (refering to your resolution in the other thread) Thanks Ian. I'm having the same problems you are referring to. I have to manualy do a cd, then . .profile every time I sign in to get things set up how I need them. So far it seems OK, I just hope I don't run into any problems in the future. Its funny how the $HOME variable is set, cd takes me to my home directory, but I start out in the / directory.
  14. Thank you KW. After playing with jailshell a little bit, it seems to work acceptably if I manually run my .profile to update my paths and aliases, but I can't seem to find any information about it either online, nor with an info nor man page.
  15. Yikes! I just signed in to see what shell I had (since I didn't seem to remember it being jailshell, but rather bash), and it seems I've been changed as well! I don't know anything about jailshell... what are the differences? A few things I noticed: My .profile is no longer being used!!!!! - Thus, my aliases don't work - My path's aren't being set Is jailshell the ONLY shell option? Was everybody changed over, even previous bash users?
  16. I've wondered that myself... can SSH users on the same server navigate to another person's public_html directory and then see/modify the paths that have read/write/execute permissions set for "other"?? I had one PHP script that just would not run unless I set one directory to 777. I didn't like that, so I found another script.
  17. This happens to me when I e-mail my cellphone using the webmail interface.
  18. Not just because of who started the thread, but I've always found Lianna to be extremely polite and helpful on these forums!! But, it's really hard to rank the support people, and other contributors! I find posts from many people to be helpful and interesting. That's why I come back frequently!!
  19. Hmmm... I don't remember having any trouble installing it, nor do I remember a friend reporting any trouble installing it. I tried a number of different programs. I found that I like the owners user interface the best on gallery, but the visitors user interface is better on some of the others I tried. My biggest complaint with gallery is the tiny font sizes!!! I also wish there was a way to view the comments for all albums at once. My Gallery.
  20. Actually, no need to set up a 2nd account, just a forward should do what you want. For example... bigbear@****** could be the e-mail account, then set up a forward from goldilocks@****** --> bigbear@****** Then, all e-mail sent to both bigbear and goldilocks will end up in bigbears box, just like the story, except it should be little bear...
  21. hmmm... must not be a TCH problem... if I SSH into TCH or into my University account and use lynx I can view the subdomain just fine.
  22. I'm having the same problem. My photos.twowheels.us subdomain doesn't work sometimes. A friend had the same problem (he is also on server16) a few days ago. I tried going to his subdomain, and kept getting "Could not locate remote server", which later he mentioned to me that he was having the same problem. I set up all of my pages to point to a subdomain so that if I move files around links to them will still work... now nobody can get to my photos, but it'd work fine if I wasn't using subdomains!!!
  23. Disregard this... shortly after posting I got an I.M. from a friend saying that they got a warning message (not a failure), and a few hours later all of the messages started showing up.
  24. I did a backup of my account which put me over my quota, which I didn't notice for about 24 hrs... in that time it appears that messages to me just dissappeared as the senders didn't know that I hadn't gotten them... is it true that they don't bounce w/ an over quota warning? Or will it just take a while for it to stop trying? Thanks!
  25. On a more serious note... (than my last post) If you're just doing some simple design layout, Mozilla composer is decent. Mozilla (if you're unfamiliar with it) is a free, open source, browser/mail/irc-chat/nntp/html composer/bloat/more bloat/and more feature bloat, but overall nice program.
