  1. That really is impressive support. Spending hours with you, and it turned out to be an issue on *your* end? lol man if I was the support guy I'd be like !*?^#(@$!#@(
  2. http://www.googlemodules.com/module/11/ ColorJunction is a Google Module you can add as content to your Personalized Google home page. I've been playing it here and there in my free time (ok admittedly too much), and I can't figure it out yet! I mean, I get it and I understand what to do, but I haven't quite "caught on" to the secrets of success with it. I still somehow end up with like 15-20 pieces left. I'm trying everything. Should you work from the bottom? Work from the top? Work on completing vertical columns? Click on the largest blocks first? Nothing seems to give an edge over other techniques. I think that once, maybe twice I got down to 1 piece...
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I get emails and sometimes letters in postal mail, but have yet to get an actual phone call!
  4. Thanks Andy. I am still a bit confused as to why the / would cause the ~crippen to get taken out of the ssl url ... but that's ok, I'm glad to get it working now. I haven't heard of the / making a difference before!
  5. There may still be a redemption period fee
  6. Hi, Does anyone know where I can get a copy of CuteFTP, Version 6? Do they keep back-versions on their site? I can only find the latest (version 7) on Globalscape's site.
  7. Hi, I am a bit confused about how to use the Shared SSL path with my account. My site domain name can be found here: http://crippenlandru.biz/ If you click on 'McCone Files' it takes you to the page books.php?bookID=2 http://crippenlandru.biz/books.php?bookID=2 The problem I am running into is the same /books.php link fails for some reason when I try and use the shared ssl URL. So if you go to https://server382.tchmachines.com/~crippen/ you get the same home page as you would going to http://crippenlandru.biz/, but when you click on 'McCone Files' ... the URL is not found. It seems the "/~crippen" part gets taken out of the URL. If I go directly to https://server382.tchmachines.com/~crippen/...ks.php?bookID=2 then there is no problem getting to the page, but the images don't work because, again, the "/~crippen" part is removed from the URL. My question, is this just a limitation of using shared SSL I have to work with? Must I hard-code "https://server382.tchmachines.com/~crippen/" into any path I want to use the shared SSL with? Or is there any way to set things so that the same relative links that work for my domain name will also work when using the shared SSL URL?
  8. amd? intel? zipzoomfly is good too.
  9. You can use cpanel for uploading files, or you can use an FTP program like Filezilla. Personally I use FTP for most of my basic file-transfer operations, and especially transferring large files or large numbers of files, but it is also convenient to have cpanel's File Manager around for quickly getting a file or two uploaded. You can even do some quick editing if you need to on a file with the File Manager. I think TCH would be a great choice for you. You can be assured you will get responses to any questions you may have here in the forums, and the servers are stable, not overloaded from my experience.
  10. a.k.a. Nyxem-D it seems: http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2006/01/19/kama_sutra_worm/ A worm claiming to offer pictures from the Kama Sutra has begun circulating by email in the latest attempt by virus writers to infect Windows machines by relying on a combination of user stupidity and supposedly salacious content. The Nyxem-D worm (AKA Blackmal-E) arrives as the infectious payload of email messages with spoofed sender addresses claiming to offer obscene pictures or pornographic movie clips. If activated, Nyxem-D tries to disable security software. It also tries to harvest email addresses from infected PCs in a routine designed to draw up a hit list of targets for infection. Nyxem-D is programmed to download updates of its code onto infected PCs. Standard defensive precautions against viral attacks apply in defending against Nyxem-D. Users are urged to patch systems up to date and update anti-virus signature definition files. Resisting the temptation to open unsolicited email attachments is also a good idea, of course. Edit: TCH-Bruce - removed direct link and off color language. These are family forums.
  11. Amen to that
  12. killdisk.com
  13. I use Opera, Version 8.51. Reading through some of the threads here, it seems some people have encountered compatibility problems in the past with Opera and WHM. Can anyone confirm that there are still issues using WHM and/or Cpanel with Opera?
  14. Ouch! You keep backup files handy?
  15. We're still checking into all our options... And I thought developing websites was gonna be so simple
  16. I have noted who my fellow 2405fpw users are I really love mine. No whining problems here, either, although I am also aware of this being a problem for some.
  17. Just to follow up to my previous post, it does seem that we can bypass the need for an internet merchant account by simply running each order manually through IC-Verify. X-cart can simply store the customer info in a database, which we can then extract for order processing. Apparently we are liable, though, if the database is hacked and CC #s are stolen ...
  18. Thanks for that. I will be looking into paypal as an option. We have x-cart software which I believe has an option to allow us to take the credit card orders online, but the actual processing we can do manually through IC-Verify. We're already manually running each order through IC-Verify now, so this may be the most effective solution... What I'm wondering is, would doing it this way bypass a need altogether for an internet merchant account? Or is there some other issue that I am overlooking ...?
  19. Thanks for the confirmation Rob. Another question - does it matter to TCH what internet merchant account I use? In other words, will some be not supported by TCH? Also, is "internet merchant account" the same thing as "payment gateway"? Just trying to get some of the terminology straight ...
  20. I use another host where if they enable FrontPage extensions on their Linux accounts, then the trade-off is you can't use CGI with the account. Any similar limitations or trade-offs here?
  21. Thanks for the post Mr Wobbles. The company I maintain a site for has a merchant account for the bricks and mortar business. The name of the merchant account provider is "IC-Verify". I don't know if they do internet merchant accounts or what ... this is all very confusing to me how it all works. I've been researching and reading into the basics of setting up a merchant account (why I came across your post) and I still don't really get it. Basically I don't get how the whole internet merchant account thing works, and how to implement it into a site with a shopping cart. This is the next step the site is going into now so I need to get to work on it. Anyway, as I understand your post above, our company will also need a separate internet merchant account, correct? The bricks-and-mortar merchant account isn't going to cut it, in other words. Should we contact our bank and ask what internet merchant accounts they would use? Maybe this seems completely obvious but I am new and don't know where to start setting all this up. Any advice/comments would be great, thanks!
  22. Yes I've done that.
  23. Thanks again Bruce. This is not working, and I am positive my port is open (I can connect using mysql maestro on port 3306 to other servers just fine). Also testing every password I ever use with this account ... Is it possible that remote connections are not set up correctly for my database? I read that this may be a problem with some accounts and a help ticket should be opened.
  24. Thanks. How do I assign a password to the db?
