  1. The file '\windows\hosts' should only be for windows. From your first post it appears you are running linux, in which case you would want your hosts file to be '/etc/hosts'. At any rate, I don't think this is your problem. I ran into this problem before, and what was causing me issue was not adding a user/setting a password for that user in MySQL. Have you done this yet? Let me know, and I can help you do that.

  3. Welcome to the forums (and family) ictus!
  4. Alright, since everyone is baffled, the answer is: "This is a test." (minus the quotes, but with the period). Now that you know the plain text, try to get to it from the last 4 cipher texts that I've provided you. See if anyone can discover the methods.
  5. An example to give you an idea of what I mean. Here is the same message that I have used all along, encrypted, without a "one-time use" key. There are 4 runs through the algorithm, each one producing a different product, and yet they all decrypt perfectly. Here they are: 1) 5q3338e2f52f772b674aa82f4f52db8d1a527a33381269qfyd05d68d89ef4ed3p3e1dy4205eead4c81 2) 38b81b2b692bfa277f527f2f51ef262b852f774bcgqfyed05p3e1d5q33yed3ad4420d68c81d89ef45e 3) 2f59g7995g13c732b67g527fg3338g1269gqfyeed05420ad4d68c81ed3p3e239q2fbdg2c94g2c61g2f77g ef4d895 4) 7991c86f64d22b7152902b674bcgqfy56c3373330b7yc81ef4ed35ee420d68d89ad4d05p3e1d5q2bb7 What's probably most frustrating when first looking at these is that each one is of a different length. Anyways, let me know what you guys think.
  6. I've updated the algorithm a bit, adding a form of "mutation" (basically, the encrypted text in theory will never be "spit out" from the algorithm the exact same). This, in combination with "one-time use keys" make the encryption fairly strong (it should be noted that, mathematically, no encryption method is "unbreakable").
  7. Thanks for the info. Meanwhile, I don't intend to upgrade. Once support for XP expires, I'll fully switch to Linux (have 5 of 7 pc's running it now, and only keep XP because support for it hasn't ended yet). Just my stance on the matter.

  11. A very warm welcome. As was mentioned earlier, there are plenty of people around here who would be more than willing to help with designing your website.
  12. Yea I stumbled across that first thing this morning... and of course I wasn't fully awake yet, so I just figured my computer was nuts. Google... I should have known. Is it April 1st again already?
  13. I do daily full backups, and before an upgrade of phpbb, I always take a backup of the db. That's the paranoid side of me...
  14. Thanks, I'll update immediately.
  15. Works fine in Firefox/Mozilla as well (sorry, couldn't resist).
  16. Here's what I came up with: CATEGORY -- ACRES FOOD -- 4.9 MOBILITY -- 3.2 SHELTER -- 4 GOODS/SERVICES -- 6.4 TOTAL FOOTPRINT -- 18 IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON. WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON. IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.2 PLANETS. In that case, let's use the sea floor! 70% of the Earth is ocean, let's utilize it! (no hazings please, I was only half serious).
  17. Thanks everyone for your congratulations!
  18. Hello TCH family, I have some wonderful news that I'm excited to share with all of you. Today I was made a Master Mason in the fraternal order of Masonry. And now I wonder, are there any other Masons present?

  20. Pfft, just use Linux (Dude, you knew that was coming)... actually I'm kidding. While I'm a Linux nut, I don't know what resources it has for video editing available (though I would imagine there are plenty out there). While WindowsXP comes with Windows Movie Maker, it's pretty basic (but advanced for a novice like me). I like macs, but I don't think I'd get one now, seeing as how within the next year macs will include intel processors instead of IBM's powerpc. It's hard to say how long support for the ppc based macs will last after the transition (also, no flames here please... if you know more than I do politely correct me). Just my $0.02 (btw Sonys are pretty neat... especially the laptops). Edit: I should add that I'm not an "intel basher"... I was merely pointing out the fact that Apple is transitioning from IBM to Intel as their chip provider... so no "Borgs" (still chuckling) from the Intel camp flaming me please.

  25. Thanks for the heads up Bill. It's an unfortunate feeling when you find yourself between a rock and a hard place. I'm proud to be a customer of your fine organization. Thanks again for the heads up (although personally I prefer squirrelmail ).
