I think I have the config.php file set up properly. But now I am getting this message when I try to access my website: Database error in vBulletin : Link-ID == false, connect failed mysql error: mysql error number: 0 Any ideas?
-
Doesn't MS Wordpad add unwanted lines of code when you open a text file with it? I thought I had a problem with this when I was trying to install phpmyadmin.

If it doesn't affect the vBulletin installation will it affect something? Will there be problems with the database? What is that password, $dbpassword, used for? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So if I change the dbusername to something else does that new dbusername need to be entered elsewhere? Doesn't it link/direct/correspond to anything? Sorry about knowing so little about this process that I can't even use the correct terms ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Does the whateveryouwant portion relate to something? Does it create a database called whateveryouwant? Or do I need to create the database called whateveryouwant? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So I can just create any password here? Will it be used elsewhere? Certainly I can't just make something up and not need to use it again...will I be asked for it again? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Part of what is throwing me off here is that on the vBulletin site it says, Note: Please note that Jelsoft / vBulletin Support can not provide the values you require for $servername, $dbusername, $dbpassword and $dbname. These variables are only available from the web host providing your web/database server. But it seems that I, not tch, determine those values, right? Thank you.

Hi. I had someone else install a vBulletin forum for me but I need to make some changes or do an reinstall so I have a few questions/concerns. Here are my questions: [1]Can I call the folder, that I install the vBulletin files into, something other than "forum"? [2]I changed my cpanel password since the vBulletin forum was initially installed. Do I need to edit my vBulletin config.php to reflect that new password? If I don't what problems would I notice? [3]the vBulletin installation instructions say to edit $dbusername, $dbpassword, and $dbname. Isn't the $dbusername the username assigned to me by tch? For some reason the person that installed the forum for me used: UsernameProvidedByTCH_UsernameProvidedByTCH [3a]Any idea why they typed the name twice? Is it necessary? [3b]Do I need to update my $dbpassword to the new password for my account? [3c]The $dbname is 'UsernameProvidedByTCH_{the name of the folder that I will install vBulletin in}', right? Thanks.

is the problem with Invision Power Board....or something else?
-
Ha on me. I was doing a search for Mike Jones (so I could read the rest of the thread that TCH-Raul mentioned) and I just figured out it must be TCH-MikeJ. Anyway, before I get to the point of requesting that Help install the directory I would like to find out if they have done it for others...that's why I'm asking around.

Is tch willing to add /usr/local/bin to open_basedir?
-
JustMike, did you get it to work? This post: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...showtopic=13423 mentions something about a problem with the version of Image Magick.

Yes that is the one.

I have vBulletin ($160) for the full-license. I am looking at phpBB for my next board but I have heard that, based upon the way the software is coded, the board performance slows down significantly at about 85mb of storage. I think the mysql database fills considerably faster than vBulletin...but phpBB is free. What are your experience with phpBB? How big is your messsage board? thanks!

Hi Lisa. You're about to get a PM from me regarding the password for the TCH Family Forum.

I had my password reset and I still can't get in... The error message is: The error returned was: Sorry, you have entered an incorrect password. Please try again. Any ideas?

Does anyone know when a newer version of mysql will be updated to the servers? Aren't there stable versions since the current install on the servers (Client API version 4.0.20 )? Thank you.

Is There A Way To Give Someone Access To Phpmyadm
rnmcd replied to rnmcd's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Thank you Very much Dick and everyone else. I think I got it to work... One question though, when you edited the config.inc.php file which program did you use? I found when I opened it and edited via cPanel (and navigated to the file in the public_html folder and used the "edit file" option) it added line breaks to the file and then myphpadmin wouldn't load (via the URL). I then opened it locally in Notepad but it was less legible (for a novice) because all the lines of text/code ran together. Is there a better way to edit a file like this? Thank you. -

The following is from the config.inc.php file that I installed: How is the correct value automatically detected? If it is 'detected' would it display here: Is the following correct? Raul wrote: I am setting up phpmyadmin so that someone else can create databases and tables for me and so that I don't have to give them access to cPanel. Will the username and password that Raul mentioned above be necessary because I don't want them accessing cPanel? Will I need to do a similar-type install for MySQL Manager if the reason I am installing phpmyadmin is so that someone else can create tables and databases? Raul also wrote: What other authentication modes are there? What does the "config" authentication mode mean? Thank you again. -

Of course I'm struggling here..... It's not just that I don't really know what I'm doing it's more that I'm afraid I'm going to screw up something and I'll never be able to figure out how to fix it So far I've installed the myphpadmin on my webservers document root. Now, according to the instructions I need to: Open the file config.inc.php in your favorite editor and change the values for host, user, password and authentication mode to fit your environment. Here, "host" means the MySQL server. Also insert the correct value for $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'. Anyone know what the value for MySQL server is? It also wants me to edit the user and password. Do you know if they want an existing password? It doesn't seem like this would be the place that I create a new user and password...or is it? I have no clue to what authentication mode is? Yep, I'm lost.
