  1. Thank you again TCH!!
  2. That could happen but I wouldn't worry too much about it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the checkdnsrr doesn't work then customers (with legitimate emails) won't be able to register. When you mentioned that I shouldn't worry about it, is that because future versions of php will likely support checkdnsrr or that if checkdnsrr doesn't function with later php versions it shouldn't cause any problems with entering an email address. Thank you Bruce.
  3. I left out a crucial word in my last post: doesn't Here is the edited post: You answered about question about MX records existing for each email address, thanks. Could the checkdnsrr not function properly in future versions of php?
  4. Actually it looks like the problem is more with generating the thumbnail. I think the gif itself uploads fine but the thumbnail has the above error message. Any suggestions?
  5. I'm not sure what I need to check to figure out why I can upload .jpgs but when I upload a .gif I get the follow error message: Warning: getimagesize(/home/localme/public_html/images/listing_photos/thumb_94.gif): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/localme/public_html/admin/edit_my_listings.php on line 708 Warning: Division by zero in /home/localme/public_html/admin/edit_my_listings.php on line 714 gif test Would anyone know where I should begin my troubleshooting for this issue?
  6. Do you think this might be a poor way for me to determine if someone registering at a site has typed in an email adress in the correct format? I'm kind of afraid that I might lose registrations if the MX record doesn't exist or if the checkdnsrr doesn't function properly.
  7. what is an "MX record"?
  8. http://us2.php.net/checkdnsrr it is supposed to "Check DNS records corresponding to a given Internet host name or IP address" I am trying to use it to verify the validity of email addresses but I don't understand how checkdnsrr does that. Does it check every email domain to see if it is a real domain?
  9. Thanks for the great information!
  10. I guess what I'm looking for is a way to compare the actual loading time (the above sites seem to do that) to what it should take to load a page of that size. Let's say I have a 50kb page that takes XYZ seconds to load on DSL. I would like to know how fast it should load on DSL. Maybe its the server or the connection or the poor coding of the page.
  11. Sure, here's the link: Website Try entering Listing ID: 11158 in the applicable field.
  12. I have really found those links helpful!! Is there a way to determine why my site appears to be loading slower? I'm not sure if it is the server or if it is the additional coding to the site... I was recently hosted elsewhere and since moving to TCH some folks have commented that the pages load slower. The only change I have made since the move to TCH is additional coding. The images haven't changed. Sadly, I never 'timed' how long it took the site to load on the other host so I can't objectively compare it that way.
  13. After you read this question (and finish laughing from how 'novice' it is )..... Where do you typically 'dump' a database to? It wouldn't make sense to back it up to the same server, would it? Thank you.
  14. I was looking into that but the Vbulletin folks said, " We had reports that PHP was causing time out errors when creating the back up SQL, and this was causing for incomplete or corrupted backups. The safest way to do a backup is to use the mysqldump utility through SSH/Telnet, as it will not suffer from any such problems."
  15. Do you happen to know how often the check the server? Are emails sent out immediately? Thanks Don.
  16. I thought I had read/heard somewhere that there is a way to have an email sent to you when your site goes down. Maybe it was a script that monitors your site or it could have been another site that monitors your site... Sound familiar to anyone?
  17. Thank you folks very much....again!!
  18. I thought about that but they could also change my password and I would never be able to get into the site. At least if they had their own password and I knew what it was I could change it.
  19. Can a second cpanel login or a second cpanel password be set for an account? I want to give someone temporary access to cpanel but I would like to be able to delete their account or change their password when they are finished with their work. Thanks.
  20. Thanks you Rick. "Reprovisioned" is the term I was needing. Much appreciated.
  21. I have a couple of domains being hosted by TCH and one of them was my testing/experimental site--I hadn't had a host before and was just seeing how things work: cpanel, ftp, uploading, installing scripts, etc. Is there a way I can request that the files for one of my domains be reset to the way it is when you first open an account with TCH?
  22. i'm still not getting notifications for some reason. And I'm sure the emails aren't in my junk/bulk email box. hmmmmmmm
  23. Is there something similiar I can use that is installed on TCH shared servers (since SSH isn't available to me)? Thanks.
  24. So it's sounds like it is part of the php version that is installed on the server, right? Do you know which version of the GD Library is installed on the TCH servers?
