I would open up a HELP DESK ticket to be sure it gets resolved. It could be that the e-mail account on your cPanel account does not match where you are looking. Anyway, the HD is the way to go for this problem to be resolved. Good luck!

Microsoft Patents Grouped Taskbar Buttons
HCSuperStores replied to borfast's topic in Open Discussion
If this, along with all the other recent patent news, is true ... I'm really dissapointed in our patent office. I feel like M$ is lining all these things up to get ready for a rash of law-suits against the little guys ... just to squash competition. Hopefully they'll take a look at SCO's book and realize that it doesn't work in the end. -
I figured I could find some out on the web, but I've become accustom to using some of the ones on TCH. If I nedd more, then I'll start hunting. Is TCH interested in my "Members" mod?

So very cool! TY, TY, TY!!!!

I've just started my own inviision board for my church ... whoohoo! Here's the address: Grace On-line Board Thumbs Up But I've noticed that some of my favorite smilies from here are missing. Could I add the ones that I see missing? Is there some "smiley patent" that I'm not aware of? I think it's appropriate to ask regardless. In exchange I'm willing to share a minor mod that TCH might like. I've added the colors, for moderators and staff, to the members list. Is that a fair exchange? Thumbs Up

Glad it worked out. I just experienced the obvious yesterday ... so we're in the same boat! Have fun!!!

Silly question: Under System Setting/Email Set-up ... did you fill in the e-mail fields correctly? Gotta ask ...

I am a big-time noo-bee to Invision, but I get these messages. I'll look to see what admin control I used to make that happen.
-
Hi Mike, When you're right, you're right. I loaded a fresh Invision board to another sub directory and took the unblemished version of the document I modified and it worked without errors. After a little trial-and-error I think I discovered a missing ">" from the end of a <tr> tag. I didn't expect the results I got when the missing piece of info, but it was the problem. I'm good to go! Thanks!
-
I'll try setting up another board and then go piece-by-piece with the changes I've made for the graphics. There were only two changes, one on-line and one direct. If it is the problem I'll find out quickly.
-
Mike ... when you say "in the header" ... can you be more specific? The header of what?
-
Thanks to those who have looked so far. There's nothing too little to check at this point. I have made changes to the Admin side. I've added forums, moderators, categories. I've also slightly tweaked the top display for the graphics and text that you see. But I believe my changes to be harmless. I must admit that I am slightly confused by the permissions. Every time I add a forum I have to set permissions for what each group has access to. My instincts tell me that there should be a default setting that I couild set so that, by default, every forum would initially get the same permission settings. In addtion, when a topic was posted, where I did receive notification, I was greeted with the same blank page after I clicked the link to show the new posting. I'll review the Admin settings. If someone with Invision Admin experience wants to take a look, I can give you access. It might make it easier. Thanks for looking! Bill

I've just installed the Invision board. The one that TCH uses seems to work well. But I get this thing were if you post something, it does work, but it doesn't go anywhere. You're just left looking at a blank screen and your URL followed by /index.php?. Does anyone have an idea? You can find the link for the site HERE Make as many new post as you need to for testing. The site is not yet live. Thanks! Bill

Yes, me too. I use Kopete(Linux) for Yahoo IM (and others) and the yahoo portion is rejecting my password. I think I saw news article saying that Yahoo has pulled the plug on 3rd party access. I'm not sure on this though ... but given your note it could be true. We could be stuck for good on this one.

For the record, I really love TCH and these forums. I think this system works very well about 98% of the time ... that's pretty darn good. I do think it is rare, and it's not a big deal in the pool of everthing TCH deals with. For me, there was something that happened back a couple of months ago, and an issue was unresolved ... unknowingly to me. Due to forum policy, I could not be contacted. A person broke policy and with hesitation explained the reason for contact. We resolved any missunderstanding that existed and had a better appreciation for each other when it was all done. But this person went 2 months ... and then was afraid to say anything to begin with. I just thought that was too bad and wished we had resolved things when it happened.
-
Actually, no. It's against forum policy. If you said the wrong thing in a PM you could be barred from using the forums. I'm not sure if that would affect your account. We are told not to settle issues on our own, but to bring them to the attention of a moderator. They will then deal with it. We are specifically told not to try to contact people and settle things on our own using PM.

True, this is a business and yes, I agree that I wouldn't want anyone just going on an on about each other ... especially my customers. But TCH allows this line to be blurred between "work and play". Frequently topics are discussed that have no business value at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for that and I'm glad it exists. The piont is just that if this was strictly a business you and I and the rest of us would not be having this conversation. TCH has clearly made a forum environment that goes beyond what is considered strictly business. Here's the bottom line. TCH can run their forums as they please ... their severs, their money, their time ... it's their property. However, within the context of these forums I find issue with the level of PC that is aimed for. It is subjective to the tastes of those who monitor the forums and, on rare occasions, leaves unresolved issues between people. It's just my personal opinion that there should be an outlet for these things and that the level of PC is just too restrictive at times.

Hey Guys, Are you having fun yet? Keeping the peace is no picnic, that's for sure. And, if that's your job, then I wouldn't want it. There's a lot to be said for keeping your cool, acting civil, in this perfect TCH PC world. However, I'm not that much of a fan of the PC as TCH is. Personally I wouldn't think there would be any harm in creating a "Take it outside" forum. For people like me it would be nice to let the guard down a little and say what is really on our minds instead of tip-toe-ing around issues all the time. Personally I didn't see what transpired here, but I've experienced this in the forums before where if we were actually able to say what we really meant it would have been over a long time ago, the misunderstandings would have been cleared up, and we all would have been better for it. Instead, months later, people (off forum ... against TCH policy) finallly get the nerve to say what really needed to be said and the issue is no more. I'm not looking to find a place to cut people down and swear at them ... but a place that would be mutually accepted as "you can say what you want and TCH won't bar you or shut down your site". That way we can get it all out and there's no risk. As it is, TCH has a very strict PC policy and greatly discourages you from approaching people individually. This can lead to issues being unresolved indefinately. To temper what I've just said, the need for this is rare as most people seem to exist in what currently exists without much issue. But boy, on those very few occasions, it would be so nice not to have to walk on egg shells ... and really get some issues out in the open. You'd just tell the person .... would you like to "Take it out side?" Real families fight. My wife and I have been married 15 years. If we never fought, we would be lying or indiferent. We are neither ... we're real people!

Trying To Transfer My Domain.. I Think I Messed Up
HCSuperStores replied to KrycekIsMine's topic in Open Discussion
Hi Kim, Sorry ... I guess I didn't understand your question. The information you have in your welcome e-mail should give you everything you need to upload your site. HOWEVER, you said that you came from a cPanel environment. TCH has been very helpful on getting people set up when their old host also used cPanel. Open up a Help Desk ticket and let them know you want help in setting up your account from your old host that used cPanel. You should be good to go with their help! -
Trying To Transfer My Domain.. I Think I Messed Up
HCSuperStores replied to KrycekIsMine's topic in Open Discussion
Hi Kim, I think you're Ok. It takes up to 3 days before your DNS information is updated all through the internet anyway, so it should be the first thing you do, in my opinion. If you think you messed up something, open a Help Desk ticket (also found on the top of this page) and someone will help you with your account. Chances are, you just need to upload your site to its new location and set up everything else with your site. Good luck and welcome aboard! -
Apache Not Resolving Virtual Includes

Thanking you just doesn't come close to my appreciation on this. I was barking up the wrong tree the whole time. As a completely hetrosexual man, having 6 kids and a wife of 15 years to prove it, I would give you a square kiss on the lips for the help you just gave to me. I'm sure now you have a new appreciation for working from your very REMOTE location ... Seriously, it worked just like ... in seconds! Restarted the apache server and received the multitue of script errors I have been hoping for! Thank you! TYVM! TY TY TY! :heart (that's as close as I'll get ... I promise I was so fixated that it was related to Options that my brain didn't go anywere else. Seeing also that I'm not that expereinced on server end didn't help either. So again ... thank you! -
After 5 years of working with various web hosts I've been fortunate enough to find the services of TCH. It's been great! Where I came from wasn't all that bad either, but my needs were growing and I found myself outgrowing my past hosting company. I've not only been watching my own server (only one small section of down time due to a planned server move) but all of TCH's customers. That's the cool thing about these forums ... you can see how TCH works. How can I possibly complain??? TCH has given me excellent service, both in support and with server up-time. Their prices are reasonable and there is always room for expansion as my needs grow. If you read through the forums you may find one or two people who seem unhappy. You may have to dig ... but even TCH can't make everyone happy. Be sure you have reasonable expectations when signing on for TCH. For most of us, this is a shared server environment. The servers are top-notch and used well. TCH strives for 99%+ uptime on their servers ... and they do achieve that. This also means that there may be .01% of downtime. When this happens (all in one month or over the course of a year) realize that 100% uptime is not a guarantee, or the norm, for any shared server environment. It's just a fact. Do understand that TCH will be ON TOP of the situation and will let you know what is going on by using these forums ... better than 99% of the hosting companies out there just by doing that! They have never let me down, or left me uninformed, when something goes bump in the night ... even while I take in a good nights sleep. My hat off and a big THANK YOU to TCH for being the company I can rely on for me and my clients. Thank you to the moderators and fellow TCH family for help on problems that are usually my doing. Thank you to the TCH technical support for replying within minutes of each and every help desk ticket I've submitted. Truly a remarkable statement ... and genuine help too ... not canned responses that are unrelated to my question. And thank you Mr. Bill Kish for keeping service at the level we have grown to expect and love from TCH. I've enjoyed our past talks and look forward to future conversations as our busy schedules allow. I will continue to grow my business using your services and know that things are in good hands.

Keeping the thread alive ... hoping someone might have some ideas. Thnx!
