I looked at the code. And your right, there's nothing thre to STOP the browser from reloading the URL. It just adds on any preferences it happens to find and still reloads the page. You need something that checks the end of the URL, or looks for the parameters passed, before executing the reload. Does that make sense?

I was wondering if I was getting all worked up for nothing, but you're saying the same things I've thought. I even used the word "lawyer" in my conversation, without knowing if it would have any impact. The credit thing was internal to MCI so there isn't anything on mine personally. But still, I had no idea that this has happened to others. Maybe it's just if your name is Bill???? If it's possible, I want to know HOW my informaiton got attached to this number. They looked it up and said that on XXX date it was under this name and then on XXX date it got changed. They don't know by whom it just was on a given date. I'll never use them again, that's for sure. I wasn't even using them this time!

Ok ... I'll guess. I think it's a new site design for the TCH site. Notice that the "new" rates for the resellers hasn't been put in yet. If I were planning a site redesign, and something like that was changing on my site, I wouldn't bother posting new rates on that OLD site. I'd just put them up with the new site. Isn't that right ... BILL!!!

I have to gripe some. It falls right in line with "service" going down hill. Since the beginning of December, I've had issues, and bills from MCI for a phone number that I never had. I don't even have an account with them any more. So I'm concerned on who authorized my name and address to be with this phone number (area code 401) that doesn't belong to me. But here's the kicker. I've called 3 times to put an end to this. Since my first call I've gotten about 10 pieces of paper ... bills, late notices, and finally collection warnings. 3 times I've called and 3 times someone on the other end has said they would take care of it. Now I'm just worried about HOW this happened. It's been so frustraiting!

The code for the countdown clock must look at your computer's local time. Mine says there's 6:17 left. Someone earlier posted that they had 5:33 left. I'm on EST I wonder who has the correct countdown time?

I'm just a customer but I've found these guys to be sold, responsive and friendly. One of the tech guys will comment, but IMO I think that they'll go your way with every one of your questions (with the exception maybe of "overselling"). I know that in my reseller control panel, that when I say to give a guy 500 MB of space, it allocates it. But there may be more to this than meets the eye. So far I've been just as happy as a clam, and I didn't really have any major issues with my previous hosting company. I just outgrew them. Good luck in your search!

You'll not regret your choice scottyz! Let us know when you have actually signed up ... we'll give you the official TCH welcome!

Hi All, Still rather new here, but loving it so far!!!! I was looking at the rates, fees and stuff from this post and have seen that you guys have run into the difficulties that I have. I actually stated from scratch, by designing my own shopping cart and store architecture. It's a basic store now, but it has all the things one needs to get going. Anywho, about the rates. I think I have something pretty competitive. Check out my site and the credit card animation in the upper left-hand corner. These are the basic stats: Set-up fee: FREE Discount Rate: 2.19% Per transaction fee: $0.25 AVS (if desired): $0.05 I found them easy to hook my custom shopping cart to. If you call, talk to Mike Mise. You know why you like TCH so much? Top notch service? Then talk to Mike Mise if you call the toll-free number. I send my clients to them for merchant accounts. They helpyou with the paperwork too. Good luck to anyone going down this road! It can be rough the first time. All the best! Bill Hermonat Hermonat Consulting

I'm not a Tech ... just a customer. But I believe that some people rename their .exe files ... like .ex_ just to get through the filter.
-
Let me give you something to think about then ... On your short list, do the other guys put their server stats up for the world to see? You can see, for all of their almost 60 servers, how much down time there has been. What about these forums? Would the other guys allow you to post what ever was on your mind? There not hiding anything. It's out there for the world to see and examine. That's honesty!

Hi there! You should match features and compare prices. But know this ... these guys know their stuff and take care of their customers. I've been to 5 or 6 hosting companies, most paying more than what I am here. By FAR the best service around. I've been looking for these guys since '99! Good luck in your search ... I'm sure you'd be happy to try them out for the 30 day trial period and make a decision based on that. Take care, Bill

The more I look at the script the more I think I can make it work. Thanks for the input! Bill -
I just signed up myself a couple of days ago. The "welcome" message usually follows in 2-6 hours. But it's possible to take up to 48 hours. If you haven't gotten something in 24 hours you might bug them more. But the turn around time is usally really good. How long has it been since you signed up? Bill

One last thing ... I'm calling it a night ... but send the files and I will look at them tomorrow. See ya! Bill

Do you want to send me your files? I'll take a look at them. Bill bill@hcsuperstores.com

Hi Bill, As I said before, I think we sometimes get smug as americans. That sucess in business is just "due" us, because we live in a free country. But I also find that expectations are really odd sometimes. I tend to charge a little more than the next guy, or I should say the "cheapest" guy. I'm not out to compete JUST on the dollar. I have services and quality that others wouldn't touch. But some companies, especially the small businesses or individuals, just look for the cheapest thing. For them, I say "Fine ... have fun!" knowing full well the complicated and confusing road that they are about to go down. Some people want it dirt cheap and want excellent service. Me, I'll pay a good price (don't read anything into this Bill ... my rate is fixed, right???) and I'm willing to pay much more if the service is there. Service IS value. Some just don't see this anymore, especially when looking for the cheapest option. I say those with good service and a decent price will stay around much longer than those that compete on price alone. Those are my thoughts! Bill

Hi! Sorry for my late response. I had THOUGHT I subscribed to this topic ... I guess I hadn't. This is a code snip from one of my progams in production: ***************************** #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI; use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser); $query = new CGI; $pnum=$query->param('pnum'); ****************************** I assure you that this does work. If you are finding that you still arn't getting anything from your form to print out in your script you can check: 1) The "name" value in your form. Make sure that it is exactly what you have specified. 2) The "action" for your form. Make sure that the script form action is exactly the same as the name of your script. 3) Double check permissions, just in case. If you are able to print anything, you're probably Ok. 4) How did you get your script where it is? If your script was put up using FTP it MUST be in ASCII format. Binary format will not work. If you're not sure, delete your script and re-upload it in the correct format. FrontPage can mess this up for you too. Don't use it for scripts. If none of this works, you might want to send me the files (your HTML form and perl script file) and I'll figure it out. We'll get through this! PS - Good on-line reference for you: http://iis1.cps.unizar.es/Oreilly/perl/ If there's anything you need to learn, it's probably in that link. Good luck!

Plain and simple SpyWare! Do a search on Google and you'll read all about it. Probably a way for you to get rid of it too with a little digging. Good luck!

:Nerd: I didn't realize that ... your ID and pass are just plain text via FTP. I've never thought about it before though. Yikes! Good to know!

Ok .... maybe I'm just new here and haven't seen everthing. There's sooo much ... it's a project just keeping up with the forums! I'll try to be a little more observant.
