  1. Congratulations Kris!! Fatherhood is awesome!! Welcome to the fatherhood clan!
  2. Hello, Is there a way to have a link on a webpage that prompts you to download a file. I have a word document that i want to make available for download. I would like it that when the user clicks on the link they are prompted to download the file. Any idea, TCH family on how to do this. Or any other suggestions? Thanks
  3. HI, I have setup an FTP account for my domain. I am wondering if there is a way to allow downloads but restrict uploads to this account (folder). I do want to keep it password protected. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Commented with pleasure!! Keep up the fine work TCH
  5. Thank you Andy.....i missed the posts on the status pages...
  6. Hello, Is the status page at http://www.tchstatus.com/monitoring/status.html offline for maintenance? Thanks
  7. I just bought a PNY 256 Attache Flash Drive.....when plugging it into a WinXP computer it only show the size to be 249,282,560 / 237megs. PNY states the size is always smaller as it contains data of the formating etc. Is this normal for a flash drive to be 'so' much smaller in storage space? (256 verses 237) Does this seem unusaul for a flash drive? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks
  8. You can workaround this by making the following change in IE: Right click on your internet explorer icon and click properties Select the advance tab Scroll down to security uncheck the "warn about invalid site certificates" This will stop the security pop up box when the cert does not match your domain name. (this is normal as you are using TCH shared cert) Hope this helps
  9. I have been running Thunderbird for a couple of month now and i have noticed that 20% of the time the program will not start up. If I go into the task manager / procs and end process and try again it starts right up. Anybody else had this problem. It is running on a pc with XP-Pro SP2, avg antivirus and zonealarm Thanks
  10. Have you tried connecting to these ports from another computer (different access point). Some ISP's really lock down the ports that you can use. If it was working and now it is not, I am thinking the ISP is suspect.

    Firefox Tweak

    Really good points!!
  12. This tweak increases the page load in FireFox. The tweak seems to work well, especially with graphic intensive pages: In Firefox, type "about:config" in the address bar without the quotes. You'll get a list of config variables. Right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". Does it work for you?
  13. Thank you so much for all your responses to this post. The research that I was doing was to see if technical minded folks read printed books/text cover to cover and what we read. During a round table debate it was discussed that computers are diminishing the use of printed text. Further emphasis was placed on technical folks indicating that we read more online than any other affinity group.. I was not sure i agreed so i made my post. Thank you.....no names will be used in my research only numbers. Again thanks.
  14. If these are the same server why would they have different traceroutes: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He meant they are the same server configuration. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for clarifying!!! That makes sense........Thanks for following up on this post.
  15. One more question on this subject....The quoted post is a reply to the following question: How much RAM memory do 82 & 94 have? What is the interconnect NIC speed?.. (from box to switch/hub) If these are the same server why would they have different traceroutes: Please see below: ------------------> This is the trace to server82: 3 9 ms 19 ms 8 ms 12.244.21.113 4 21 ms 14 ms 12 ms 12.244.64.9 5 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms 12.118.60.9 6 11 ms 13 ms 12 ms 12.123.44.198 7 24 ms 9 ms 10 ms ggr1-p3100.st6wa.ip.att.net [12.123.44.133] 8 10 ms 11 ms 16 ms POS1-1.BR1.SEA1.ALTER.NET [204.255.174.169] 9 10 ms 14 ms 15 ms 0.so-7-3-0.XL1.SEA1.ALTER.NET [152.63.105.18] 10 11 ms 11 ms 14 ms 0.so-7-0-0.TL1.SEA1.ALTER.NET [152.63.2.130] 11 76 ms 78 ms 73 ms 0.so-4-0-0.TL1.DCA8.ALTER.NET [152.63.3.189] 12 74 ms 76 ms 75 ms 0.so-5-0-0.XL1.DCA8.ALTER.NET [152.63.25.38] 13 84 ms 83 ms 86 ms POS6-0.GW3.DCA8.ALTER.NET [152.63.37.29] 14 82 ms 96 ms 87 ms pos5-3.core2.dca1.hopone.net [207.228.224.177] 15 74 ms 74 ms 94 ms pos1-2.core1.iad1.hopone.net [207.228.224.190] 16 74 ms 76 ms 87 ms ge8-0.core2.dca2.hopone.net [66.36.224.33] 17 75 ms 73 ms 75 ms vl2.msfc1.distb2.dca2.hopone.net [66.36.224.229] 18 74 ms 77 ms 75 ms server82.totalchoicehosting.com [66.36.231.134] -----------------------> And server 94: 3 66 ms 8 ms 14 ms 12.244.21.113 4 10 ms 9 ms 9 ms 12.244.64.9 5 13 ms 12 ms 11 ms 12.118.106.5 6 14 ms 18 ms 12 ms tbr1-p012402.st6wa.ip.att.net [12.122.5.174] 7 13 ms 11 ms 24 ms 12.123.44.177 8 14 ms 11 ms 10 ms att-gw.sea.cw.net [192.205.32.202] 9 14 ms 13 ms 11 ms acr1-so-3-0-0.Seattle.savvis.net [208.172.83.62] 10 87 ms 80 ms 78 ms dcr2-loopback.Atlanta.savvis.net [208.172.66.100 ] 11 80 ms 87 ms 81 ms bpr2-so-0-0-0.AtlantaPaix.savvis.net [208.172.75 .238] 12 82 ms 81 ms 80 ms 208.173.60.218 13 82 ms 86 ms 85 ms 209.51.131.25 14 110 ms 79 ms 78 ms gig0-2.l3-atl-5.gnax.net [209.51.131.98] 15 78 ms 84 ms 83 ms server94.totalchoicehosting.com [72.9.224.178] The two traces show that one ends in Washington DC and the other in Atlanta.   16. Thank you so much!!! Glad to hear there are no hard feelings. Please keep up the great work you all do....
  17. Thanks Bill.....sorry on my part if I implied any "tone" with you. I respect you as a business owner and think you are doing a great job providing the services you do....BTW i very much appreciate you always going above and beyond the normal call of duty. There still remains two unanswered questions.....may i please ask them again. How much RAM memory does the hardware have that supports V-Server 94 & 82 (understanding that it is the same box....as you pointed out) What is the NIC speed connecting the box to the network...10/100/1000? Thanks again......no hard feeling on this end..You?
  18. ***** Bill, I’m not sure why you have chosen not to answer the additional questions. You have a customer that would like to know what kind of hardware is supporting the virtual servers of 94 and 82. From my point of view I have no clue of whether or not these virtual servers reside on the same hardware. I understand the "available" resources and never implied or expect (as a client) for you to make any kind of change. I was simply inquiring about the hardware that support these two V-servers. That's all. The performance of my accounts with you is just fine. In fact they are great! I have had mostly, a very very positive experience hosting at TCH. I will say that it bothers me that you have chosen to take a semi-defensive tone with me when i ask a simple and reasonable question. I am excited that TCH is making upgrades to existing servers as you deem necessary. Please conduct your business as you do, but please consider that some may (including me) request reasonable information from you concerning your services, procedures, policies and support. I apologize if these remedial topics prompt you to respond in the way that you have and do. Kind Regards and respect Your customer, Russell
  19. Thank you so much, Bill for the info.....Just a couple more quick questions How much RAM memory do 82 & 94 have? What is the interconnect NIC speed?.. (from box to switch/hub)
  20. What are the specs of servers 94 and 82? Thanks
  21. Was the WLAN link light blinking when you first plugged it in?.....mine is. I have no wireless devices powered up and nothing plugged into the wan ports. The neighbors have wireless as well.
  22. HI, I just picked up a d-link 514 wireless router. The WLAN light is always flashing. Just powering it up makes it flash. (nothing else attached) The manual states that the LED will be solid when the wireless segment is ready and flashes during wireless data transmission. It is always flashing...Is it supposed to do this? Your help is appreciated.
  23. I noticed that...i wonder if FP is stripping something during upload. I did a google search on the issue and there was a link back to TCH of somebody else that had the problem. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/l....php/t5604.html Strange!
