Virus? Trojan? Machine Defect? Norton Mistakes?
Alan replied to Alan's topic in Security Discussions
Thanks, I also use Firefox for my browsing, but I am also a Member Plus on the MSN Gaming Zone. There is also the problem that the MSN Gaming Zone does not support Firefox ( Therefore you have to have Internet Explorer to be able to use the gaming network ). Thanks for your help, I am reading those links now. -Alan -
Hi, Me back with questions for you computer and security experts. Ok, here is the thing, awhile back I started having problems with my browser, it seemed to be a browser hijacker ' as I have scanned and found alot of them' and when I set my homepage to like TCH Forums, It always sends me to 'about:blank' and it ALWAYS sends me to some search engine. When I use my Yahoo! messenger and open a messaging window, it always pops up two windows, one is the search engine and another is an advertisement about spyware. After scanning with norton and finding a dabafall.dll file which was an at-risk file and trying to have norton delete it, and it failing I rebooted in safe mode and tried to have norton delete it then, without success. Is there anyway to delete .dll files from the System32 folder by hand? Without a destructive reformat? Thanks, Alan

I think perhaps, if TCH IS going to be doing worldwide hosting, you guys do need to hire some people who speak spanish.

What was the problem with it? Or can you say?

Hrm, Can one of you MSG me on Yahoo! Messenger? tinywizdas My account passwords seem to have been stolen and changed. When I try to login to cPanel / Webmail It tells me incorrect password. I submitted a ticket, but the email it is going to be sent to is alan@z-c-r.com (The one on the semi-dedicated account.*One which was stolen, and now I cannot login to the email accounts*. I know I have not changed them myself, and I have spyware / dataminers on my computer which I think is possible for someone to have gotten my passwords via that? Is that correct? Or maybe me not using the SSL login for cPanel/WHM? Btw, Ticket ID: UOV-51538 Thanks.

Hi, I was wondering, has server 54 been scanned for viruses lately? Not sure if it is something on my PC that I cannot find or not but everytime I try to login to SQ mail I get sent to I AM A SPAMMER sites, and when I login to norde it works fine. I have scanned my PC with norton / ad-aware / spy sweeper. Just thought I would find out has the server been scanned lately. :S

Hrm, I updated Spybot S&D and AdAware and I still have the same problem And everytime I start IE that homepage tries to force me to download pl.exe, I am guessing it is a virus.
-
k will try, thanks for your help.
-
And by the way, I Uninstalled IE, then Re-Installed it and got the same thing. I am using Mozilla Firefox, mainly now, but some of the stuff that I do like the MSN Gaming Zone require IE.

Hello, Whenever I got on my IE the other night I noticed that it was getting canceled on my homepage, and being sent to a new URL which was a search site, once I tried to login to my webmail I got sent to a I AM A SPAMMER site. :S Is this Spyware or Adware? I have used the following programs and after deleting everything bad that it found I was still getting the same things. Spy Sweeper, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D. Could it perhaps be a virus or trojan? Just thought one of the others around the forums who are into computer security might know what is going on :S.

And I found out about the onboard video, Because of the newer motherboard or whatever, the video automaticlly disables when you place a new AGP card in the slot. ( I think it is called AGP Not sure lol ). Thanks for all your help.
-
N/M Got it fixed. The store sold me a bad card by mistake. Got a GEForce working fine now.
-
Hrm you tell me lol. Device Manager - > Alan / Display Adapters Radeon 9550 (Cannot find enough resources. - No monitor plugged in I think ) Radeon 9550 Secondary ( Running fine. )
-
I already did that, and no option to disable onboard video was there. I also uninstalled S3 Graphics Inc. just now, maybe it was just a program? :S
