  1. Sorry for the lack of info, It's Y2k and I frequently run several ap's (sometimes a bunch, 6-ish) outlook express almost always running, a couple of browsers (ie 6) and maybe net objects, or photoshop 7. oddly I seem to remember more closing the IE browser when it locks up, but sometimes it is when the outlook express checks mail. no set schedule that it happens. The cooling may be an issue, the machine is on 24/7 but it is in a cool place.... I'll try to be more aware of when it happens and take notes on what else is running. seems to have developed about a month ago, don't recall it hapening before that. Thanks for the suggestions. Mr. Bill

  7. I am not an expert here, and it would be a good idea to wait until one haps along, but I believe that you would put that in the overall_header.tpl of the yoursite.com/public_html/forum/templates/subsilver/directory (assuming you went with the standard forum install and haven't installed any additional themes for your users. But again, might want to double check on this, and don't forget to make a backup (copy as overall_header.bak) of the file first! Good Luck, Bill McCord www.greatfolios.com
  8. Phew! Thought I did something way wrong, (even checked all of my outbound links for link farms etc.... Glad to know it's not me.) Mr. Bill
  9. Sorry, it was a 2 part question. What if we don't show a text link but do have a hidden link? Thanks.

  12. This may sound odd but as a reseller I made the decision to provide a link but not show it on the page, the spider sees it as a link but no text is associated with it, does this count as a link? I will accept your ruling.
  13. This is at the root of my question! the rest of your post helps allot though. Thanks, Mr. Bill

  15. So, how correctable is a bad linking stratigy, ie: does the spider simply calculate a bad PR then on the next round, it sees a better structure and gives a higher PR?
  16. Jim, Thanks for the speedy answer! Mr. Bill TCH Rocks
  17. dsdemmin, First let me say how much I appriciate what you do here! My question is this, should I be concerned just how many internal links (on site) my main page has? and as a followup, does the way you link matter? ie: does http://www.greatfolios.com/html/services.html equal www.greatfolios.com/services.html equal ../html/services.html ?
  18. Oh-Boy! Mr. Bill (sorry to hear about the playstation....)
  19. Is this the longest thread in the forum? Mr. Bill
  20. Here is a thought, Since you already have the 2 layer concept going, why not leave the image flat and take a 2nd layer and make it a watermark/site logo, then use the onclick command to lift the watermark off the page to reveal the background.... this way if the image browser isn't the active one, any print screen click is going to copy the watermark onto the print and the image will be branded with the site logo. (I don't know beans about java (get it, beans about java, hahaha ) but I think onclick or onmouseover are valid commands....) (I need a hobby....)
  21. I hate to burst the bubble.... I looked in history and reopened the page that had the larger image, then I went offline on that browser window, then I tried to click on the image, a warning box poped up that said that the browser was trying to close, I moved the warning box to the side (not closing it) and then did a printscreen, went to photoshop and hit ctrl-v croped and saved, no aligning was needed. I got lucky, and this took me about 30 minuted to figure out.... Mr. Bill feel free to edit out how I did this to protect the script.
