Arvind, it's not a different reason. In the post Lisa mentioned, I said PHP wasn't going to be upgraded right away because of server stability issues. Just as Rick said in the post you mentioned, "A good case in point is when Php was updated several months ago we were flooded with Help Desk tickets on broken scripts." There is an additional reason, though, which is as Rick also pointed, that PHP is closely tied to CPanel and it still boils down to server stability issues "Php, MySQL, and other services are tied closely to CPanel. When there is a major change CPanel will test for some time afterwards and make any changes they need to make to CPanel. They will not release a version using the newer version of the service until they determine that it is stable with CPanel and even then it is not a great idea to upgrade until we've seen the bugs reported by those who are running these versions."

Kasey, as Lisa and Richard already said, you'll need to install a webserver to do what you want - assuming you want to make PERL and PHP scripts to run in webpages, which, from what you said, is the case (I say this because both PERL and PHP can be run without a webserver). Well, anyway, get Apache, it's the best and it's simple to install. Get the 2.0.x version, it's much better than 1.3.x, especially since you're using Windows. http://http.apache.org As for PHP, get the ZIP package, not the installer, because the ZIP package comes with a bunch of extensions compiled in and a lot of stuff the installer doesn't bring. You can download it from http://php.net and read the instructions on how to install it here http://www.php.net/manual/en/installation.php - read the "Installation on Windows systems" and if you feel like it, the "Servers-Apache 2.0" chapters. Finally, for PERL, get the binary from http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/ Since I never developed with PERL on my Windows instalation, I have no idea of how to install it with Apache and I didn't find any good information on ActiveState's site. You have probably already looked for this solution but have you checked if the applet allows you to change the permissions after uploading the file? That's the only way I can think of, because, at least as far as I know, there's no way of changing the umask of files or directories

Thomas, that's probably the source of the problem - the dimensions. I have no idea of how Norton Internet Security works but it may have an option to ignore a certain URL, filename... something like that. Or perhaps you can change the dimensions of your logo.

Thomas, if the image you're talking about is the one you use in your signature, then it may be because of its proportions - it seems to have the usual proportions for an online ad.

It's quite easy, just use the path to your home directory, which is something like /home/yourusername/public_html/phpauction/cron After that, you just need to specify at which intervals you want it to run. Note that there are two interfaces for the cron jobs administration, a more complex and more powerfull one and another one more simple but that is probably enough for what you need to do. LOL Thomas, those names are randomly picked by Mozilla itself as a security measure. There are lots of known vulnerabilities where a mallicious web site owner could code his site in order to exploit those vulnerabilities and gain access to your files. By using those random names, Mozilla adds an extra layer of scurity to your system: even if a hacker uses one of those exploits to gain access to your files, he/she would have to know the exact name of the e-mail folder in order to get it, which would be quite hard, unless you'd tell him/her yourself Hope I made it clear

Dear TCH Friend, I can imagine what it's like to fight such a battle against this disease, because my grandfather has an intestinal cancer and I see that in him. But I also see that he's not willing to give up, he has always been a strong man and although he's an old person (80 years old), apart from the tumour his health is really good, so he just says "no way, I was doing great before, why should this darn thing just get away with stealing my life now?" and he just doesn't stop fighting. I would also like to suggest that you look for Qigong as a possible help in treating your cancer. My martial arts master, Dr. Yang, Jwing Ming (http://www.ymaaschool.com/about/about.php) has beaten cancer more than once with the aid of Qigong and I know more people did it also. I confess I don't know much about this, because although I practice Qigong (which is read as "Chi Kung", by the way) as most chinese martial arts praticioners, I never used it as a weapon for fighting a disease. I know some people may not believe this works. I am pretty skeptic myself but having experienced some of the benefits Qigong practice may bring and also applying some modern understandings of how these things work (http://www.ymaaschool.com/articles/articles.php - if there's any doctors here, please refrain from starting the typical flame wars regarding this subject), I believe it is possible to use Qigong as an effective weapon against cancer. Chris, I don't think Ming is built into any servers. I remember seing this being discussed some time ago but I can't find the thread, now If you really need Ming installed, submit a helpdesk ticket requesting the installation and see what the techs say about it.
