Hi!

I switched to a new ISP a short time ago and lo and behold they won't let me send out my eNewsletter to my fans as the error message I get states that the number of people in my email exceeds their allowed amount and that this is to safeguard people from sending spam, etc. SIGH

The way I do my newsletter is via Outlook Distribution Groups which are alphabetized and grouped. eg: #-c is one group, d-e is another etc. There are about 2200 subscribers to my eNewsletter and the groups are all broken down into manageable chunks. The message is in Plain Text format, so it's not a big file.

To bypass using my ISP (Juno) I decided to try to set up the email through my domain name identitymusicgroup.com. I've set up an email account enewsletter@identitymusicgroup.com in Outlook and also in c-Panel.

I used these settings:

POP3 mail.identitymusicgroup.com

SMTP mail.identitymusicgroup.com

Account Name: enewsletter@identitymusicgroup.com

Password: the password I set up in C-Panel for this particular email account

Server Port Numbers are set as follows:

SMTP 25

POP 110

This is the error I get when trying to send email using Outlook through the Domain:

The TCP/IP Connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server (Account: Identity Music Group, Inc. | Natalie Brown eNewsletter, SMTP server mail.identitymusicgroup.com, Error Number 0x8000ccc0f)

Can anyone shed some light on how to get this working correctly?

Thanks,

Natalie

Hi! Yah I know it's been ages. I was so busy finishing my Christmas CD. I was gonna post something about it in the Main Forum.

I'm trying to get this newsletter off and get all the press releases done. It's nutz!

I'll try port 26 and let you know what happens.

Thanks,

Nat

YIKES!

For some reason I am getting bouncebacks with this error:

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its

recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

xxxxxx@juno.com

(ultimately generated from enewsletter@identitymusicgroup.com)

unrouteable mail domain "juno.com"

xxxxxx@spectrumrecords.com

unrouteable mail domain "spectrumrecords.com"

xxxxxx@stud.tue.nl

unrouteable mail domain "stud.tue.nl"

xxxxxx@hotmail.com

unrouteable mail domain "hotmail.com"

xxxxxx@mafianegra.zzn.com

unrouteable mail domain "mafianegra.zzn.com"

xxxxxx@totalstylebeauty.com

unrouteable mail domain "totalstylebeauty.com"

xxxxxx@hotmail.com

unrouteable mail domain "hotmail.com"

There's a whole slew of them.

Anyone know what happened? I know these emails are valid.

Thanks,

Nat

Oh Man... wait a minute.

I had set up an email forwarder in c-panel for the address enewsletter@identitymusicgroup.com and it was still enabled when I sent out all 2200 emails just now....

Could that have messed the whole thing up? I'm now not sure if anyone got the email.

Mitch... I had added you to the mailing list after I sent you my CD... did you get the eNewsletter OK? Can you check to see?

OMG I hope this didn't get totally messed up.

It looks as though every single email in the Distribution Groups got bounced back with that 'unrouteable mail domain' error.

EEK!

I feel like a twit!

Nat,

What happens if you send just one email now that you have changed ports?

You can send me one if you want as a test

I just thought of this,

I sent out all 2200 emails just now....
and remembered this

we do limit the number of outgoing mail in a certain amount of time though, 50 outgoing e-mails every 300 seconds (5 minutes)

I am wondering if maybe the first 50 made it and the rest failed due to this issue.

:::Sniff::: I just noticed the hair was gone ;)

Rob,

I just sent the exact email I sent out to the distribution group.

Some emails did get through, so maybe that first 50 thing is what happened....

That's really frustrating tho since that means I am gonna have to break down the groups into mini-me groups.

Do you think I should just try that?

LOL don't worry about the hair! I still get braided... just wanted to try a new look for a while... I'm always changin my hair style and color... the chameleon that i am! LOL

It's so fun to be a girl!!!

Thanks for the help on this.

You may have to try the Vern Troyer groups and then one every 5 minutes at that. That will be 44 groups and 220 minutes or 3 hours 40 minutes to complete the process.

There may be a script that can automate the process for you or on the good chance I am wrong, and my wife says if my mouth is moving I am, there may be something altogether different that is causing the issue.

Andy just replied to my ticket... he thinks its the number of emails issue as well.

I'm trying batches of 50... lol

my fingers will be numb by morning....

Andy just told me about some software that might help.

Cool Andy!

Hey... can I ask a dumb blonde question even though my hair is red now?

Do you still have to seperate each eamil address with a semi-colon (;) when sending to multiple addies in the BCC field?

I'm doing that... but it's tedious and I don't want to be doing something redundant if I don't hafta! LOL

Thanks

Cuz I still need to do that, sleep... lol elusive sleep!

Thanks for all the help.

Hey Andy- for some reason whenever I try to download the DaDa software it times out and IE6 stops responding. I tried the mirror sites but same thing happens.

It takes me here to dl:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mojomai...a-2_8_10.tar.gz

It looks interesting. Turtle also sent me some great info, but I need the Pro version and I'll have to wait to spend $100.

Thanks guys!

Serveral years ago I had the need to do some consulting work for a major HDPE Plastics supplier. They were needing to send email to all their customers. They were moving offices and needed to contact all their customers via email about the move. It was something like 30,000 emails.

I used the following product.

http://www.fairlogic.com/worldcast/index.shtml

It was free at the time and worked perfect for my bulk email needs.

Give it a try.

Hey Natalie, I uploaded Dada to my site, you can get it here http://www.x-trememodz.com/dada-2_8_10.tar.gz

If that doesnt work lemme know and I'll e-mail it to you.

Mike,

I got the DL and am looking over all the install stuff over the next few days. There is an interesting add on for handling bouncebacks, but it looks pretty complicated. I'll have to spend some time and figure it all out. Looks great tho.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah the bounceback feature is pretty nice, but like you said, pretty complicated. I started to set it up on mine, then decided I didn't need it THAT bad. :)

I'm gonna have a go at it and see if I can get it to work. I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks again,

To chime in, i've built a little custom mailer guy and hit the 50 email limit but my question is this...

Based on this quote:

we do limit the number of outgoing mail in a certain amount of time though, 50 outgoing e-mails every 300 seconds (5 minutes)

... and pardon my slight ignorance, but I really want to understand...

If I send out 1 email to say 50 people in the TO header, does that count with your setup as 50 outgoing emails, or 1 outgoing email. I guess I'm curious if it is our mail server making(sending) 50 connections or receiving 50 connections from my program that you limit every five minutes.

thanks,

blackwo,

Each person you send to is considered a separate email no matter  if they are all in the To field or not.

Hi! I just discovered this topic. I was unaware of the e-mail limits mentioned here. As it happens, earlier this evening I used my TCH e-mail account to send a message with 109 addresses in the BCC: line (all subscribed -- nothing unsolicited) and there were only two bounces (mailboxes over quota -- nothing unusual). How is this possible if each person I send to is considered a separate message? Shouldn't 59 of these messages have bounced because I unknowingly exceeded the number of messages allowed? Has there been a change in policy since the last post to this thread?

Thanks so much for this, I run a worldwide family history website and have over 250 subscribed members, tried to send e-mail newsletter through Group Mail Pro on port 25 and it didn't work (like webgyrl), tried port 26 and worked like a dream!

TCH Tech support is the best!

Hi again Guys

What's the settings I should use in Group Mail/Group Mail Pro to prevent the servers thinking the member's newsletters are spam?

Thanks

ephreak,

it will depend on your ISP

Check their TOS or AUP

or contact them to explain what you are doing to find out what their limit is.

If you do not, you may be terminated by your ISP

thinking that you have an e-mail virus.

For me on Charter, the limit is 30 at on time as pop3 or smtp

That means BCC to 31 will triigger their virus alert.

With their tech support blessing, I set it for 25, pause 5 seconds.

I use the free version and it work fine.

Excellent Don,

Just what I was looking for! I phoned OzEmail and they weren't totally sure. The tech got 3 different answers from 3 different supervisors - 200, 100 and 25 - so he said to work my way down from 200 and see how I go.

Thanks for your help Don!
