dieguy Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 I just got my site last week and I got a domain name. I would to know if it is possible to change my domain name. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Yes, it is possible to change your domain name. The best option is to register the domain name and set the nameservers to the ones in your welcome email first. That way the domain can begin to propagate. Then open a Help Desk ticket requesting the change complete with the CPanel information for your existing account and we will change the domain name on the account. Quote
dieguy Posted November 24, 2003 Author Posted November 24, 2003 Can u have 2 domain names go to the same website if u own 2. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 Yes, if they are pointing at exactly the same files. Just open a support ticket, and ask us to park the second domain name on top of the first Quote

Lianna Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 Go to your registrar. Most registrars have an online control panel where you can sign in and change the domain contact and name server information. If you don't know who your registrar is, then you can post your domain name here and I can help you further. The TCH Help Site has specific directions (movie tutorials) for changing name servers and many popular registrars. Quote
dieguy Posted November 24, 2003 Author Posted November 24, 2003 Right now it is www.dieguy.com . It is a squad site but I want my new one and this one to go to the same site. Quote
Lianna Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 Ok, dieguy.com looks like it's listed through BulkRegister. However, you most likely bought that domain name through one of their resellers. You just renewed in October, do you remember how you did that? You probably received an email with a link to your registrar. If you remember where you bought the domain name from or where you went to renew it in October, please post that company name here and I will research further for you. Quote
dieguy Posted November 24, 2003 Author Posted November 24, 2003 www.geekhosting.com Both hosting and register through them Thanks Great support Rock Sign Quote
Lianna Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 I've scoured their site and find no place to manage the domain name. So I just filled out their contact form with the question and hopefully we'll get a response soon. Through their 74 page User Guide, there is no reference to their domain selling and subsequent management of the domain. You may want to, and get faster service, by asking them in their helpdesk how you access your domain name to make changes to contact and name server information. My old host had provided a domain management console ON their helpdesk. Side note: I noticed that their domain registrations are much higher than here at TCH. Might I suggest that you initiate a TRANSFER of the domain name to TCH instead? Basically, you will have easier access to and greater control over your domain name with less expense. Once you initiate the transfer, your domain expiry will be increased by one year (so you don't lose any money) and your previous registrar will send you a confirmation email asking if the tranfer request is valid. You confirm the transfer and then you're done. When the transfer is complete, you will be able to manage your domain name easily from the TCH website. Go Here to see more! Quote
dieguy Posted November 25, 2003 Author Posted November 25, 2003 I tranfered my dieguy.com to TCH. But it wont let me log into manage Domains. I tried with both logins. I got a failure letter so I have to talk to them I guess. Quote
dieguy Posted November 25, 2003 Author Posted November 25, 2003 I have filled out the transfer info and paid. It came back failed. I went to my other registrar and got them to send the domain to total choice. Now I need to know my next step. Quote
Lianna Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 Are you now able to login to the TCH domain management console? Once there, you should see your domain listed. Click on it and then click the link to modify the name servers. Quote
dieguy Posted November 26, 2003 Author Posted November 26, 2003 We have my new Domain pointing to my site. The company it is registered with say they cannot unlock it until after 60 days then I can tranfer to TCH. Rock Sign Quote
TCH-Rob Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 Looks like you have 30 days left. It's one of those rules imposed by ICANN that states a name can not be transferred for 60 days after a purchase or a transfer. It is designed for the safety of a registrant. Quote
