DarqFlare Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 I've got a friend's computer running WinXP, and the Network Setup Wizard is missing. How do I get it back? Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 Goto the Run line (windows key + R) and enter "netsetup.exe" Quote
DarqFlare Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 That didn't work. Perhaps I should add in the information that the dialog box never comes up. It asks if I want to add files so it will work, but after adding the files, the dialog box never pops up like it's supposed to (It does at my work). Quote
TCH-JimE Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 It sounds like a corruption. You should reinstall that part of windows and then search the MS database for similar cases Jim Quote
DarqFlare Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Augh, don't tell me that! The last thing I want to do is reinstall WinXP, it took me forever getting this computer back from motherboard death to being a viable computer! Maybe reinstalling SP1a will work... Beh. I'm looking into it tonight, I'll give you guys an update later on. Quote
monkjack Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 Just had the same problem, I noticed in the system log of the event view that DCOM had a error an failed to start. >DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server: so I looked in the services list and sure enough Network Connections had been set to Disabled. Dunno how as I certainly didn't set it that way, checked the system for viruses etc and all was clean. Anyway setting the network connections startup to Manual and a reboot fixed it. Quote
