TCH-Mike Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 What does everybody think? I just upgraded and noticed that Google toolbar is not compatible. If you are having this issue you can install the Compatibility Reporter Add-On for FireFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/). This will enable you to install add-ons that aren't compatible with the new version. Quote
Head Guru Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I just installed it also. Time will tell i guess eh? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I haven't installed it yet. I have two plugins I use daily that aren't compatible. Quote
TCH-Mike Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Bruce - Use the compatibility I linked to, you should be able to use those plugins IMO FireFox has gone down hill the past few years, it feels like what was once the fastest browser is now one of the slowest. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 It should be noted that this extension is recommended for alpha and beta users only. Quote
carbonize Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I'm personally on the Aurora channel so using Firefox 6 right now. I am loving the new web dev stuff as well as the new permissions (about:permissions) which function a lot like in Opera. In Firefox 7 (Nightly) it's now a bit like Chrome in that it doesn't show the http:// in the url bar but will show https://. Quote
TheMovieman Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I finally had upgraded since Norton's plug-in works for this version (but have to wait for future versions). I think it's alright *shrug*. I don't use any of the new stuff though. Quote
carbonize Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Firefox 6 brings some very nice web dev tools and Firefox 7 has some serious improvements to the memory management. Quote
BluegrassGardener Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I'm still running Firefox 3.6.X. I need a little more convincing yet. Quote
carbonize Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) So the faster JavaScript engine and improved memory management in Firefox 7 is not enough to convince you?Not to mention the improved HTML5 and CSS3 support. Edited September 19, 2011 by carbonize Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I've been running FF6 for while now with no problems. Quote
carbonize Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I'm running Aurora which is somewhere between a beta and a nightly so is currently Firefox 8. Firefox 7 is released on 27th at which point 8 becomes the beta, 9 becomes Aurora and 10 becomes a nightly. Quote
