I got hosting here this past Sunday for a site I'm creating. Before that I had it on a host that I have another site on. They didn't have what I needed for this so I moved it here. I pointed the domain to these name servers on Sunday and it resolved to here yesterday. I know this because I was able to login to my cpanel using the domain name and not the IP. I was also able to create the email addresses I wanted to use.

This morning I uploaded a new theme to the site I was going to try (For ftp I used the IP addy to server and not domain name, just haven't changed it yet) and when I went to view it, up comes my old theme! I tried emptying my browsers cache and still it comes up. I haven't installed a store or forum yet, but had it on the other host. I clicked on the links and up they came. Now I should mention that the old host account was marked to be deleted, but wont be for another week I think.

I tried logging into Cpanel here and I get the 404 error. I had to changed back to the IP instead to get to it. It appears that it's back to the other host now! Funny thing is the email still works here. I didn't set any up on the other host.

I don't know if any of this makes sense or not. It's early and I haven't had enough coffee to wake up yet. :D SO I'm really confused now as to what is going on. One day it's here, the next it's gone (sort of).

Hello,

It may be the case that the ISP server your request is being directed through has not caught up with the one you where using last night.

It does take about 72hrs for all ISP servers to get updated (assuming they do not use a cache themselves).

First thing is, make sure your name server is set correctley. You can also do traces for this to make sure that its all set up correctley.

Then unfortuantley, sit back and wait a while. Its a pain, but it has to be that way (outside of TCH control)

If your still worried, open a support desk ticket and they will just check everything is hunky dorey.

If you want, please let us know your domain name and I will check a few DNS servers

Hmm... that's weird. Normally DNS propagation would have completed in about 72 hours. So Saturday would be four days ago... maybe wait a bit longer? Or check the DNS entry? I'm not too sure here... sorry. :D

With DNS problems, might be worth checking with your domain register...

Thanks for the replies. I know some pages can be cached at places along the way and things have to catch up. I have just not had anytning like this happen before. The domain is wvcrafted.com I just deleted everything from the old host on my account except for a blank index page. Just funny as I didn't think the email would work until it had fully propagated.

I doubled checked with my domain register and it's set to the name servers here. I guess I will just sit back and wait. I'm in no hurry, just wanted to make sure I didn't screw something up along the way. I know it's not a TCH issue. Just found it strange that's all.

Below is a screen shot of how I have the name pointer to here. If you see something screwed up, please let me know so I can correct it.

You didn't mention it but just want to make sure....

The pages you are loading on the TCH account are being placed into the public_html folder?

DNSReport says:

>Your NS records at the parent servers are:

dns3.totalchoicehosting.com. [207.44.236.88] [TTL=172800] [US]
dns4.totalchoicehosting.com. [72.9.224.186] [TTL=172800] [US]

[These were obtained from m.gtld-servers.net]

And I was able to get your CPanel login screen by going to yourdom.ain/cpanel so it seems to be setup right.

I did get 404 errors from your site when I tried Our Store and Community (you said these are not installed yet)

When you try your CPanel are you using a favorite link made from your old site? I know that's obvious but a remote posibility.

yes, I'm placing everything into the public_html folder. the email works from here, the FTP works with wvcrafted.com, but the cpanel does not and www.wvcrafted.com gets you my old host. Yesterday, everything worked from here.

Hello Wvcrafted,

I believe there seems to be a cache issue somewhere here as everything now points to totalchoicehosting DNS servers and has the correct CPANEL login.

Do you have another computer nearby that you can test this on? A mates or local public place?

I believe it is a cache issuse either with your ISP or one of the routing routes that its running.

If you want to be 100% sure, submit a support ticket and the server guys will double check the account is working (which from the outside, it is!)

Must be my ISP or something along the way. I had two friends that live in the area (Same provider) and they get the blank page also that I setup on the old host and the 404 when trying to access the cpanel with the domain.

I will just have to wait for everything to catch up. Thanks everyone for all your assistance :D

Update: I just did a trace route from my IP to Visual Routes server and this is the result

Could the packets being lost right here have anything to do with it? It looks like it's being lost right at the provider.
