I was asked by Support to review the files in a .gz file to see if they were the ones I wanted restored.

How do I open/unzip a .gz file?

Winzip is telling me that it is "not a valid archive."

Open winzips classic interface then

Options > Configuration > System > Associations should do the trick.

I had the .gz association checked but when I navigate to the respective .gz file the file doesn't display as a choice to unzip.

hmmm
